Anarchy Indie Sunglasses - Polarized

Anarchy Indie Sunglasses - Polarized

Rating for this product: 4 June 16, 2011

Have the tortoise/brown ones. They're super polarized, and you can see the polarization in window tints on other cars and just about anything else with it. The lense feels more yellow than brown, and it's not very dark. However, it is high contrast and would be great sunglasses for an afternoon chilling at the base of your favorite spring ski area on a grey day.

Good Gift

Spyder Amp Jacket - Women's

Spyder Amp Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 9, 2010

Bought this as an early christmas gift for the girlfriend, was impressed by the feel. She was pumped. Jacket isn't bulky, and is fairly slim fitting (assuming an 8 = medium). Material is nice; kind of between a hardshell and softshell. Seems high quality at a decent price.

Tech + Down

Orage Sami Down Jacket - Men's

Orage Sami Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 8, 2010

Like other recent Orage apparel, it's pretty heavy on the tech. Less steezy fit than, say, Oakley. Super warm, with a durable shell for tree skiing on storm days. Like others have said, it has the Euro zipper set up. Personally, would only wear this for extremely cold days or if you are a naturally cold person. The insulation + slim fit to keep out air made me start sweating immediately when wearing it indoors.

Foursquare Q Pant - Men's

November 21, 2009

On the baggy side, but kind of constricting through the seat and thighs. Similar to a sessions "loose fit."

DAKINE Concourse Double Ski Bag

January 13, 2009

The 185cm bag will hold skis up to about 195 or so. Don't know why it is so undermeasured, but I have put two 193cm, 100mm+ skis in there with zero problems.

Head Skis USA Supermojo 103 Team Ski

December 10, 2008

Chris, im 6'0/190lbs and shred the 191 mojos. Man up and choose something bigger than 183!FYI, 103 is a way burlier ski than the 105. I'm 6'9", 265, took out a pair of 183s mounted on the line and they felt fine. The only concern is that they're total bottom feeders unless you're hauling.

Marker Baron Ski Bindings

October 29, 2008

Weight my man, weight. Why lug around the extra weight if you're set with the small. The ONLY consideration you may think about is the ability to re-sell the set up with the smaller binding size but if you're not planning on selling the set up later then go for the small!Powstash is correct, but there actually a lot of places sold out of the smalls first last year. Also, a smaller footprint has a theoretically stronger resistance to screw pull-out. It's unlikely that this will matter, but it will also let the ski flex more naturally.

Rossignol Scratch 120 Composite Wide Brake Ski Binding

Rossignol Scratch 120 Composite Wide Brake Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 5 February 13, 2006

Look/Rossignol bindings (they share the same design, just different paint) are simply the best bindings out there, IMO. They offer a lot of lateral travel; this makes them excellent expert bindings for situations where a ski popping off means injury. The heelpiece is also excellent for stepping in in soft snow; if it is too deep, just reach down and pull the heel piece up, and you're in.

Bottom line, they're great.

Great Pack

Black Diamond Frenzy Backpack

Black Diamond Frenzy Backpack

Rating for this product: 5 February 7, 2006

Only good things to say about this pack. The hip-belt and sternum strap keeps the load balanced, and the shape lets you pack it to the limit and still be functional. The external shovel/probe flaps are great, securing them while also offering super-quick access in case of emergency. There's a ton of great features, too: emergency whistle attached to the sternum strap, hip-belt pockets, skin pockets, and reinforced sled loops. For a daypack, it's one of the best packs on the market, at a pretty decent price.

decent pack, but none of the "features" work

The North Face Shuttle 30

The North Face Shuttle 30

Rating for this product: 2 January 10, 2006

At first, this pack looks decent. Hydration compatible, ski/snowboard carry, shovel compatibility. Don't be fooled. While a well-designed pack for shouldering a heavy load, the diagonal carry doesn't work for wide skis or when the pack is fully loaded. The "Flytrap" system is junk, too; skis tied to the pack pull away from your back, not towards it. It works a little better for vertical carry, but not much. Also, the hydration-compatibility doesn't work; it's nearly impossible to thread a hose through the tiny opening in the pack. If you don't snowboard, the extra straps are a pain, too. Not worth the money.
