Warm,Soft,and Durable

Rating for this product: 5 February 9, 2012

They're SmartWool...you can't go wrong! They keep your feet warm when it's cold, dry when it's warm, and they're ultra soft. The price seems a bit steep at first, and then after several years of use,you realize you would have replaced lesser socks a long time ago while these socks continue on like new. They are durable and are tough as nails.I've been wearing SmartWool to work for the past eight years and I've never worn a pair out. I've only replaced them because they looked old and rugged!

Tough as nails and very versatile

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Bib - Men's

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Bib - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 9, 2012

I bought a pair of these bibs in 2005 to be worn as a do-it-all outer layer for wear in the mountains while performing law enforcement duties, including crawling over rocks, through brush, over and under vehicles while winching people back up onto the roads after they had slid off in the snow. I bought them larger that needed to allow for wearing mid-layers as needed depending on how warm or cold it was,and still allow me to wear by body armor inside to keep it dry. The full length chest to lower back
waterproof zippers come in handy for when nature calls...I don't even have to remove my gun-belt from around my waist. The side zippers from hip to ankles make it easy to allow for built up heat to escape and to stay cool inside my patrol vehicle. The elastic cinch-cords afford a quick and easy means to snug the pant legs tight around the ankles of your boots when in deep snow or when on snowshoes, skis,or crampons. With the small grommets on both the inside and outside lower edges of the legs, attach a piece of elastic cord to go under the arch of your boots, and you are as close as you can get to a gaiter. They're going on seven years of full-time winter use,and they look almost new. Clean and waterproof them with Nikwax or similar products designed for gore-tex as needed, and they will as warranted, last a lifetime.

Rock-Solid & Bone Dry

Marmot Limestone 6-Person Tent

Marmot Limestone 6-Person Tent

Rating for this product: 5 February 9, 2012

I bought this tent for car-camping last fall, and the first time out with it,my wife and I set it up expecting high winds and afternoon thunderstorms that are customary on the east side of the Cascade Mountains in the Lake Chelan area here in Washington State in September. We staked it out with lines attached to the rain fly,and the weather did not disappoint us with 50 mph winds and pouring rain. The fly didn't even sag or slap on the tent in the wind-blown down-pour. There's plenty of netting on the tent for good ventilation and there was no sign of any moisture inside the tent..it was all outside where it belonged. The quality of the fabric, waterproofing, and beefy, shock-corded aluminum poles that attach to the fly with clips and foot-grommets,was top quality and bomb-proof.With two cots there's lots of storage space under the cots and a table between them. With lots of side-pockets and a spacious gear-loft that will easily support a full-sized L.E.D. lantern from the loft, the Limestone-6 with it's two spacious vestibule areas to stash extra gear and keep it dry,is a great place to get out of the elements if you need to. It's rock-solid and bone-dry!!!
