The North Face Classic Denali Fleece Jacket - Men's

I love my Denali and though I wore it for many years my son has taken it off to college. He had alot of choices but that was the jacket he took. It's very warm but not windproof, has great zippers and pit zips. Best of all it is not a "trim fit" garment like many others and allows us older and slightly rounder folks to still fit into a performance jacket. Lots of great pockets and the exterior nylon brush guards do a good job of preventing wear at the elbows and shoulders. Now if only it were windproof.

The best of the fleece jackets

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear WindStopper Tech Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 18, 2007

Ok, I have sons in their teens and 20's and they steal my jackets. The Denali jacket is long gone and the Patagonia ones too. I jealously guard my Tech Jacket, I even sewed patches on it to make it unappealing. This jacket is warm, absolutely windproof, well designed and made. It is the perfect jacket for really mean conditions. Great fabric, zippers and pit zips, love the pockets. Just one gripe and it's small, the jacket is a "trim fit", if you are carrying a few extra pounds you will find it tight. I've worn it alot and it shows no sign of chafing or wear.

Osprey Packs Crescent 70 Backpack - 4700cu in

Wow, what a pack. After two backpacking trips of 4 days each in Maine and California, I was convinced this is the best backpack ever. The fabric is stout and easily defects spruce or manzanita trees. The design was very comfortable especially for an older (50) backpacker with back problems. The hip belt is a wonder, very comfortable and you can really cinch it down tight with the ergonomic straps. The detachable daypack and fanny pack got all sorts of use and the awe of people who saw them.
