Scarpa Summit GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's

April 16, 2009

I'm tried Asolo's and Lowa's mountaineering boots before. The Asolo's had a very narrow toe box while the Lowas fit very well. Which one of these two does Scarpas boots tend to be closer to as far as toe box size?

Great all around

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Arc'teryx Hardface Glove - Unisex

Rating for this product: 4 February 6, 2008

I love the Polartec Powershield material this glove is made of. The glove is warm, durable, very flexible, and just about 100% snow proof. It's not perfect mind you, it's not 100% windproof, and it's water proofness isn't as good as a shell material but Powershield was never meant for harsh weather. Regardless of the mild detractions these are excellent gloves. Very dexterous, warm, and tough. If you don't mind spending this kind of money for a mid-level glove these are worth it.

Crocodil...err Gaiters

Mountain Hardwear FTX Ventigaiter

Mountain Hardwear FTX Ventigaiter

Rating for this product: 5 November 30, 2007

These things are fantastic. Everything on these gaiters is well thought out and placed. The material feels like you could use them for years without them giving out. The venting feature is really nice. My only complaint is that I originally ordered a large and it was way too bit for my legs. So I ordered a medium in its place and they are just the slightest bit too small. Other than that these are 5's all the way.

Worth its weight...

The North Face Lightspeed Jacket - Men's

The North Face Lightspeed Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2006

This thing is worth what weight it lacks compared to heavier shells in gold. I've managed to squeeze this thing down into something almost small enough to fit into a Nalgene. The weather protection is superb. When you cinch the hood elastic down you feel like nothing Mother Nature could throw your way can slow you down. I use mine for everyday use and hiking. I have to say with all the scrapes and bumps of getting tree branches and rock scraps against the material it barely shows any signs of wear. This will cost you, but so will buying some cheap imitation that saves you money but doesn't give you half as much quality as this jacket does.
