I previously owned a Montbell Alpine Light Down Parka which is a quality piece of outdoor software in it's own right. For around town use, I found that it was too puffy (although super light weight), too warm (800 fill power down is great on a mountain, less so in urban environs, especially if your going to be inside at all), and my girlfriend thought it looked like a trash bag. Enter the Dolomite. I had been looking for a down jacket since giving up the Montbell and this is a great, comfortable, versatile jacket for around town and outdoor use, just the right amount of loft, cool color combo (blue/white), great cut/fit. Only difference from the picture is the spider logo on the chest is silver, not blue. I actually think it looks better in a contrasting color. It also has the word Spyder on the shoulder blade. Not as light as the Montbell but the extra weight lends a bit more sturdiness. It was 40 degrees here last week and I wore the Dolomite over jeans and a T-shirt and was prefectly comfortable for extended periods outside. A high quality piece with a lifetime warranty. I really like it. And if the MSRP is any indication, I got a great deal.
