Looking for a jacket to wear on a ski trip this April. I figure

Marmot Vertical Softshell Jacket - Men's

Looking for a jacket to wear on a ski trip this April. I figure with it being in the spring, a softshell would be my best bet.
Looking on Marmot's website, they suggest I wear a size L (I am 5'7", 220lbs with a 45"chest) I want to be able to layer a fleece under it if need be; should I go with an XL or stick with the recommended size?
