Cutter Premium Cyclocross Bike Tubes - 4 Pack

Cutter Premium Cyclocross Bike Tubes - 4 Pack

Rating for this product: 4 September 23, 2012

700c tubes for wider tires can be tough to come by on this site and elsewhere, and these fit the bill. I've had these out twice on rough and rocky trails inside of 32c Vittoria Cross tires at 50 psi, and no pinch flats so far. the weight of the tubes is noticeable on long paved climbs, but the added durability over a lightweight tube is worth it.

Form Follows Function

Rating for this product: 4 September 23, 2012

Instead of being shaped like a cone or a triangle, this bag is shaped like two rolled-up road tubes. Not surprisingly, it fits two rolled-up road tubes very well, along with two CO2 cartridges, and inflator, a tire lever, and a small multi-tool. It is simple, functional, and unobtrusive. Minus a star because its a little fiddly to feed the shorter end of the strap behind the saddle rail. an extra inch or two would be useful.

Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 Tire - Clincher

Vittoria Rubino Pro 3 Tire - Clincher

Rating for this product: 4 April 18, 2012

Robust training tires with a ride quality that approaches a lot of racing tires. I have been running these since December on winter roads with no problems or flats (flats happen sometimes but seem to be less of an issue on fresh, high-quality rubber) I'll be purchasing these again.

Maloja Brenner Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Maloja Brenner Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 18, 2012

There's not much fancy about this jersey other than it's made in Italy, fits well (true to size, albeit snug) and has a cool lightning-bolt graphic. The pockets are deep and there is a gripper at the bottom hem. The material seems to snag a bit on the zipper of my wind vest.

This kit include a chain whip and a lockring tool. It does not include anything to turn the lockring tool with. A bench vise or large crescent wrench will do the job.

Zero RH + Team Pocket Vest - Men's

Zero RH + Team Pocket Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 18, 2012

This is a nice vest to carry in a jersey pocket. The fit is quite short in the front, and snug when ordered according to the size chart (find your size my measuring a similar piece of clothing that fits, laid flat) the snug fit translates to a good fit on the bike. It is good for rides where it might not be worn the whole time, and temperature will not fall below about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It may offer protection from light precipitation, but not much more.

SockGuy Codura Shoe Cover

SockGuy Codura Shoe Cover

Rating for this product: 3 April 18, 2012

These definitely add some warmth to bike shoes without ever feeling damp or clammy the way some shoe covers can. Just don't expect any wind or water resistance from them. They are easy to set up--just put them over your shoes and use a pair of sharp scissors to cut a slit big enough for your cleat to poke through. they do not interfere with clipping in. They're comfortable at the ankle, unlike some zippered covers. The covers are tough, with no noticeable wear at the heel and to after several uses. I find the fit of the L/XL to be a little sloppy on my 10.5/44 shoe. Next time I need a pair of these, I'll look for something thicker, stretchier, and closer-fitting.

Blackburn Flea 2.0 USB Light - Rear

Blackburn Flea 2.0 USB Light - Rear

Rating for this product: 4 April 18, 2012

I tried several tail lights before finding this one. Here are things I like about it.
1. Solid construction and thoughtful design. nothing feels cheap or breakable on this light. The power button glows green when it is charged, red when it's low. That's a high-end feature for a little light.
2. The clip and included strap make it possible to attach this light just about anywhere-- bike, bag or helmet.
3. Rechargeable. I don't care for buying batteries, especially when the light turns itself on in my bag and runs the batteries down.
4. Brightness. This light seem a bit brighter than the Knog frog that was my previous record-holder.

There's only one negative. I live in fear of losing the usb charger, which is proprietary and separate from the light. Without it, the light would be useless. I keep mine in a safe spot near my computer.

Ibex Euro Loden Cap

Ibex Euro Loden Cap

Rating for this product: 4 January 12, 2012

Like most Ibex Gear, this hat is beautifully made. The knit is very thick and tight, so the hat has some wind resistance as well as warmth. Pulled low, it sits just above the eyebrows and nearly covers the ears. I have been wearing this on my bike in 20-30 degree temperatures, and it keeps me comfortable. My only complaint is that the stiffener in the brim digs into my forehead, leaving an embarrassing red line when I take off the hat.

Sugoi Resistor Toe Covers

Sugoi Resistor Toe Covers

Rating for this product: 3 January 12, 2012

Toasty toe covers with a fleecey interior and rubberized exterior, but it was pretty tight getting them over the cleats on my size 45 road shoes. After 1 use the material around the cutout looked stressed. I gave them to a friend with smaller feet, and she loves them.

Great Basic Cold-weather Jacket

Gore Bike Wear Power SO Jacket

Gore Bike Wear Power SO Jacket

Rating for this product: 4 January 5, 2012

I got this jacket about a week ago, and have used it for daily commuting and one longer ride over the weekend in 20-45 degree dry weather. I'm 5'10", 200 pounds with a 42-inch chest and a 36 inch waist, and the XL fits me wall, albeit a little long in the sleeves. The WindStopper Soft Shell does everything it advertises, plus it is moves quietly, unlike some shell material. When I start getting warm the jacket does feel a little damp inside. I have found myself wishing for pit zips and a chest pocket like those on the Gore Bike Wear ALP-X SO, Cosmo SO and Tool SO...

Gore Bike Wear Fusion SO 3/4 Length Pants

Gore Bike Wear Fusion SO 3/4 Length Pants

Rating for this product: 5 January 5, 2012

I've had these out on a few rides over shorts and tights. Extra large fits my 36-inch waist nicely with the waist tabs cinched down a bit. The waistband goes high in the back and everything stays put on the bike--no shifting around or sagging the way some knickers do. I expect these will be good as an outer layer in the winter and on their own in the spring.

Heavy duty

Endura MT500 OverShoes

Endura MT500 OverShoes

Rating for this product: 5 January 5, 2012

I picked up a pair of these last week, and have worn them for riding and commuting in 20-45 degree weather. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of the overshoes, especially the rubberized toe. They're not the lightest, and their weight can definitely be felt turning the pedals. I'll keep a lighter pair for mild cold weather riding, but these are going to be my go-to pair for commuting, Mountain biking and bad-conditions riding. I expect them to last years, instead of months like most toe and shoe covers.

As others have said, the stops at the top of the zipper are not equal to the quality of the rest of the bootie. I stopped by a local store that does zipper repairs and had them crimp on heavier metal stops. Easy fix, minimal extra cost.
