It is a weird pack for sure. Most backcountry ski packs have lots of zippered places for things. This one really just has one big top-loading compartment. But the roll top is really cool and makes it easy to access gear with the snowboard strapped to the pack, because you don't have to deal with a top pocket. But the best thing is that the pack carries weight really well and the snowboard is cinched tight to the pack's frame. The pack may not be right for everyone, but I love it. PS It carries a snowboard really well, but I'm not sure how it would do with skis.
