Traveling in countries whose airlines only let you take 11 or 14lb of carryon is a challenge. I like carrying-on lots, and so was looking for a light but very comfortable and roomy pack that was larger than a daypack, but smaller than a real backpack. This fit the bill very nicely. At 3lb, it leaves lots of capacity for stuff. It holds nearly 2 times what my daypack was. In Peru I carried it all over with 12-18lb of stuff, and it was extremely comfortable. I'm 6'4" and my only minor issue is that the waist strap was designed for someone with a shorter torso, but it was still very easy to carry. Several good pockets, but one large main compartment that is easy to get to anything with the zip-open "book" style design. Highly recommended -- worth the price!
