Hi. Thinking of ordering this vest for fall cycling so would

Hi. Thinking of ordering this vest for fall cycling so would only have a SS jersey and occasionally a base layer underneath. Generally 40 chest and I wear M for all Giordana/Pearl/Descente jerseys, and Small for any club fit jerseys. Should I get the small or medium size?
