Armada Anchorage Ski Bag
April 24, 2012
Specs say this can hold skis up to 191 in length, but here are two pairs at 193, along with a pair of surface new life's, all three pair mounted, as well as 188 super s7's and seth pistols in the same size unmounted. Surprisingly easy to close up, could have fit a couple sets of outerwear and clothes with all that stuff in there too.

Spyder Job Pant - Men's
March 13, 2012
Hey Rich,
The picture of these pants look like the 2010 model. Spyder used a gore tex membrane in that model as their waterproofing solution to the stretch material shell that wasn't too waterproof, and was a better solution than using a DWR coating that most companies do. All of the Specs are the same for the 2011 model year that it sounds like you got, but they changed the waterproof membrane to their own material they call Xt.L. That new material is rated at the same waterproofing I think, but sounds like it is thinner and has more stretch to it. Their description of this new waterproofing membrane is:
Xt.L is an ultra-thin membrane that delivers superior waterproofness and breathability. This technology results in pliable fabrics that are lightweight yet durable. Xt.L benefits include stretch recovery, which maintains the integrity of the favric after seasons of hard-core use.
Hope that helps!

Moment Tahoe Ski
February 27, 2012
These are a great ski, I have a few different models that moment makes and can't say enough good things about them as a ski as well as a company. For comparing these to the Rossi EXP 98's or the Prophet 98's these will be a little narrower all around, tip, waist, and tail. The Tahoe only has early rise in the tip (the Prophet does as well) unlike tip and tail in the Rossi 98, so it will have a bit different feel. With the early rise you will get that crud chopping ability as well as float in the tip, but more sturdy in the tail for those times everyone has when they get further back than expected and need some additional support. The Tahoe also doesn't have as small of a turn radius and depending on what size you tried in the 98's I would think they felt more like a slalom ski whereas these would feel more like a GS ski. Nice long carved turns will feel more comfortable. That is not to say that the Tahoe would not be as agile, the square tip not only looks cool, it also reduces swing weight and they will have a really controlled feeling when you need to make quicker moves. The Tahoe will also be lighter than either of the other skis you mentioned, the Rossi 98 having a wood/metal core, and the Line Prophet with its Maple core will be a bit heavier, plus moment uses full length wood cores keeping the flex consistent as well as light since they don't have to piece the core together using epoxy or anything. For overall performance for what it sounds like you are looking for, I would say these would be a great fit. Nice and light for the backcountry hikes, agile for those tighter spots, a crud crushing yet subtle early rise in the tip, and a bigger turn radius for long arching turns on the groomers that will allow you to sail past those pesky kids.
As for the Made in the USA claim that moment makes on all of their skis, it is actually made more in the US than you would expect. Not only are they made and pressed outside of Reno, NV, each component comes from the US. The wood they use in the cores from various mills across the US depending on the wood, Dura-surf bases made in the US, the resin used to put it all together, sidewalls, topsheets, the works all from the US. The only exception would be the edges, I think they get them from Austria or Germany since no factory in the US makes the top quality edges that most most companies puts in their skis. For me it was more just the cherry on top of their performance and quality built skis, and made it an easy decision for me to want to buy their skis.

Swix Diamond File
January 28, 2012
Somewhere between their coarse red (200) and their white fine grit. They don't list it but the universal has a different pattern on it so the grit has less contact with the edge. I would call it about a medium grit.

Smith I/O Interchangeable Optics Spherical Series Goggles
January 28, 2012
I would go with the Red sensor for overcast days. A little bit of rose tint to the sensor is awesome for lower light. Either would work well, both have some rose tint to them which is preferred for low light, the red sensor just a little more so.

MFD Alltime AT Binding
December 21, 2011
These will work with the look or Rossi pivot heel binding as long as you get the one specific for that binding (listed as the Look/Rossi option, it's the black one). Set them up with the FKS or the Look 14 and you won't regret it, but the beauty of the system is that any of those options will work with it so go with the binding that you like to ski better and leave the question of how well it will tour to the MFD to take care of for you.

Rossignol Axial2 120 Ski Binding
December 21, 2011
Yes they are compatible with the MFD as long as you get the specific one that works with this binding. There are three different MFD's, the black one listed as Look/Rossi is the one that will work with this. As for the second question, the Look PX 12 has a listed weight at 5 lb 5 oz. These would be the same.

Line Pandora Ski - Women's
December 21, 2011
Really depends on what din setting you need which would depend on your weight and how aggressively you ski. More than likely something like the Look PX 12 (or Rossi Axial 120 whichever you like the look of better) or the marker squire would work unless you need something above a 12 din max.

K2 Kung Fujas Ski
December 15, 2011
I would go with the 189 if I were you. If you have the opportunity to demo a pair, do it, but you will feel more comfortable on the 189 in my opinion. The early rise on the tip will help you with turn initiation on groomers, and not make the ski feel like it is too much ski for you to handle. It will also help you in the powder crush through some crud because lets be honest, most people don't get first tracks every run. The 179 seems like it would be short for your size considering that you have at least a little experience under your belt, but as said, if you can demo a pair, check them out first.

The North Face Resolve Jacket - Boys'
December 15, 2011
The XL would be a size 18-20 in the youth size of this jacket. It sounds like what you may be looking for between the 2 would be a XS. The XS size would be a youth size 6, and the small would be a size 7-8. There is a sizing chart for it below the size/color selector with more information on the sizing for this jacket.

Marmot Montreal Down Coat - Women's
December 15, 2011
This jacket has more down fill than the Brooklyn (550 fill), and a DWR coating on the shell as opposed to the nylon 70D shell on the Brooklyn which is rated at 25 PSI of shell waterproofing. They would both come in at a similar length (33 inch backlength for the medium). To break that down, this would have more fill, but the shell for the north face Brooklyn would be more water resistant. The hood on this jacket is also removable, whereas the hood on the north face jacket is fixed, but the faux fur that lines the hood is removable on each.
