The North Face Lupine Hooded Sweatshirt - Women's

I just got this hoody and it fits like a dream. It has a very feminine, slim fit and is soft and warm. The kangaroo pocket integrated into the waist seam is also a nice touch, it’s a good way to add hand pockets without adding bulk. It fits true to size except, since it's form-fitting, you can't wear anything more than a tank or thin T-shirt underneath. I would have kept it, but unfortunately the color Manzanita Red is not as vivid as the picture shows. It's actually a heathered (faded) burnt orange.

The North Face Triple C Jacket - Women's

The North Face Triple C Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 7, 2005

This coat runs big. I usually wear a small and needed to go XS. This coat is so toasty! It's like wearing your sleeping bag, but much more fashionable. The two-way zipper starts just below the knee, even though the coat itself is almost ankle length. There are 2 external lined hand-warmer pockets, and 3 internal pockets, including one for your mp3 player as well as a zippered pocket that can fit anything passport-sized. The plaid lining is soft and very cute. The only complaint is that I'm 5ft 2in, and the jacket is cut for longer torsos. The baffling that's supposed to give your waist a cinched look actually hits the top of my hips. A taller friend tried it on and it looks pretty much like it does in the picture. Though the hood was a little boxy around the head.

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Black Diamond ATC-XP

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2005

At first I thought the teeth might just a gimmick to charge a little more for a fancy-looking ATC, but I thought I'd try it out. My climbing partners have about 60 lbs on me (I'm 5'3"/120) and I thought something that would increase the friction when I lock-off would be great. This ATC really delivered! Of course other Black Diamond ATCs don't slip when you lock-off correctly, but this one holds just as much without having to try as hard to maintain a steep angle, which can be tiring if you're using it all day. Better to save your energy for the climb. And for the times I belay someone more than my size I just flip it and use the regular friction side.

The North Face Layla Halter Top

The North Face Layla Halter Top

Rating for this product: 4 July 21, 2005

I love this halter. It's super cute and very comfortable. The vertical lines elongate your torso. The only complaint is that if I wear it all day, it tends to stretch out of shape a little bit. Especially since I wear it to climb and I'm moving around a lot in it. But if you just want to wear it around town, it should be fine. It is low cut, but secure enough so that you won't fall out of it if you are A-small C cup. The front V-neck where it has a wrap-look is actually sewn together, so if you have a larger bust, the shirt won't give as well to maintain the clean lines. I'm a size 4 and got Small, so it fits true to size.

Black Diamond Airlock 2 Twistlock

Black Diamond Airlock 2 Twistlock

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2005

I love this 'biner. So much that when someone stole the first one I bought, I immediately got a replacement of the same. Plus, with the reduced price, you can't go wrong. The twist lock ensures that I'm always safe and keeping my partner safe. Just don't let it get you lazy and forget to check your setup anyway. I find that this carabiner is excellent for what I do, which mostly indoor/sport climbing. If you are worried because it is conceivable that the twist-lock could open up mid-climb, play around with one at a nearby store and you'll see how much effort it would take to accidentally rub up against it in a way that would release the gate. If you’re still skeptical, and want an added level of security but still have the auto-locking properties, consider the Petzl William Ball Lock Carabiner, which requires a button to be pushed to release. As for the Airlock 2, I find it very solid and if it's used correctly for what it's intended for, and that's mostly belaying, it is absolutely reliable and I highly recommend it.
