Sweet Helmet

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2011

I got this helmet two years ago and it has never failed me. I use for everything, A/T, downhill and any other snow sport that requires head protection. The vents and super. I have owned many helmets with quite frankly a half assed job done on the vents. Most of them were very small and met a cloth interior which allowed little of the air to ever reach your head. The Variant Brim's vents are so wide that unless I am skiing in an exceptionally warm day I can skin up with my helmet on with no problem. Whith the vents closed though, I have comfortably downhill skied at -14 degrees Fahrenheit (in Silverstar, BC). If you buy the helmet I would recommend the brim, it keeps snow away from your face, looks great and I have found that it helps to keep snow from filling up the gap between the top of your goggles and the helmet. There are also vents that push air down through your goggles vents. It is designed for Smith goggles of course, but with my pair of Oakley crowbars it works great too.

Dynafit Manaslu Ski

Dynafit Manaslu Ski

Rating for this product: 4 September 27, 2011

If I was to have a one ski A/T quiver, the Manaslu would be one of my top picks. This ski, while not that wide is incredibly versatile. It is super light, the skin system is really slick and it can do just about anything except ride switch (at least very easily). The rocker is a big bonus and while it is enough to keep you riding on top it does not shorten the usable base by much. I have skied these in pow, corn and everything in between and they have held up pretty darn well.

In short I use these on the days in which the conditions are unknown and they never leave me feeling unhappy.

'10 Chronic Cryptonite

Line Chronic Ski

Line Chronic Ski

Rating for this product: 5 September 27, 2011

I have the '10 Chronic Cryptonites and I love them. They are great for the park, the snap lets you pop up so easy for butters. The width just gives more stability for landing bigger airs. It is just so much more to stomp. This ski really taught me how to ski switch really, really fast. I would highly recommend this ski for anyone looking for an everyday all mountain ski.

This ski, while it has no rocker floats alright considering it's narrower waist. I've skied a foot of fresh in these, and although I would have preferred a rockered ski if you ski fast enough and really charge them, They will keep up just fine.

Osprey Packs Kode 30 Backpack - 1600-2000cu in

September 11, 2011

I completely agree with Kate, I am 6'2" and have been using this pack for the last year and a half. I have a mid sized torso, but my friend, 5'10" uses a larger sized pack than me due to his longer upper body. If you go to short or to long you risk all the weight being put on your shoulders, never fun. I would try it out at a store before buying online to find size. The pack is also great. Easily the best BC pack I have owned.

Just ordered the last XL *Sorry :)* that was available. Looks pretty awesome, I went with the rainbowish color scheme. The XL fits me perfectly, I am 6'2", with longish arms. Seems to be of a fairly sturdy construction. I can't wait to use it for real!

Atomic FFG 14 Team Ski Binding

Rating for this product: 4 September 11, 2011

Just mounted a pair of these on Surface New Lifes. Have not had the chance to use them yet, but so far they seem pretty slick. I have used the older model and I can say that the lightweight but REALLY strong construction will keep you sheddin' and the colors this year will put the steeze factor through the roof. Will get back and do another review once I get to ski them.
