Good Things Don't Come Cheap...

The North Face Apex Summit Thermal Jacket - Men's

I've had various North Face fleeces for 15+ years now. They are good products, although I'm sure other brands might be higher quality. I always purchase North Face fleeces with the "Windstopper" fabric -- this comes in many different names/varieties, but the goal of this stuff is to prevent wind from hitting your torso during the winter months. This Apex Summit jacket appears to be one of North Faces's top of the line fleeces, and it should be for the price.

I have nothing but great things to say about the jacket. The outside is not fleece, it is a durable material that looks nice and appears to be very durable, even after multiple cleanings. The "Windbloc" fabric does exactly what its supposed to do -- block the wind on those tough days whether you are heading in to work or climbing Mt. Washington!

The inside of this jacket is lined with fleece -- something I've never had before in a North Face fleece jacket. I ordered my usual size that I wear (L), but found with the fleece lining I had to go from a L to XL, so I would advise ordering a size larger than you are used to due to the lining. I am a border line L/XL usually, so that may have something to do with it.

It's a great product and I am excited to put it through this years winter months. Backcountry has superb service and very prompt shipping, so you should feel comfortable buying from a great outfit.

Not sure if this can zip into a Mountain Light jacket, but I guess I will find out!
