Arc'teryx Alpha LT Jacket - Men's
October 24, 2011
Disagree with Paul, it is a phenomenal skiing/snowboarding jacket that I've used as my favorite for years now. The hood works great with helmets, and the jacket is bombproof and precip proof. There is no snowskirt, but the tight fit and long cut means it isn't really needed. The only downside in my book is that the pockets are minimal, so if you carry a lot of gear -- which I do not -- then you may want something with more storage capacity in the pockets, which the other options listed by Paul will have.

Arc'teryx Alpha LT Jacket - Men's
October 24, 2011
I use the Alpha LT as my primary skiing/snowboarding jacket, and love it to death. I used to use heavier jackets with more features, and regret I ever did. This one is super light and bombproof, no issues with snow or precip getting in, and you can put an insulating layer underneath to keep you as warm -- or as cool -- as you like. It has lasted through many a crash with no damage. However if you carry a lot of junk with you, which I carry very little, maybe you will need better pockets, as the pockets are indeed skimpy.
The great thing about this jacket is that it's so light and cool you can wear it hiking, or on hot spring skiing days, with no problems. I wear it when I have to work in the rain, whatever. I also wear it travelling, which I would never do with one of the more overbuilt ones. It's just awesome. I wish I had always known the greatness of a superlight but durable shell.
