Sierra Designs Solar Fusion Down Jacket - Men's

Sierra Designs Solar Fusion Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 17, 2011

So I'm on a 3 day bike trip in the beginning of Novemeber. The weather forecast was a low of 50 degrees for the whole weekend, but called for rain. Since I was carrying all my gear on my back I was trying to pack as light ad possible. The only reason I brought this jacket was because it was the most waterproof jacket I had at the time and packed down just as small as my softshell. Well the weather turned, dropping into the teens at night, and all I had was this jacket and a base layer. We were biking along a river trail too, so all the wood froze over and we couldn't make a fire until we thawed out some wood. This jacket literally saved me from freezing, and I was actually pretty warm once I zipped it up fully to cover my nose. This jacket is a fantastic blend of warmth and packability. Not to mention being highly water proof.

Orage Dylan 5K Pant - Men's

Orage Dylan 5K Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 2, 2011

So this product just arrived and it is a little confusing. It's called the Dylan 10K ski pant, and the hang tag says it has a waterproof rating of 10K...but the tag that is actually sewn onto the fabric says 5K?!? I'm inclined to believe the tag sewn to the pants as I've own some 10K jackets and these pants look/feel more porous. Or maybe the inner fabric is included in the overall rating. I will contact Orage and Backcountry and try to report back. I'll know for sure when I take them out on the mountain.

Update: I emailed Orage and just received their response, which I've copied.
"Sorry for the delay to reply to your email. We just received the confirmation that the manufacturer put the wrong prime label inside the Orage SMU Dylan pants (AUM0140) and the information on the hang tag is the good one. We suggest you to keep the hang tag with your proof of purchase to avoid problem in case you would need to use the Orage warranty with your Dylan pants"

I have to say that both Orage and Backcountry provided fantastic customer support in this issue. Backcountry even offered to send me another pair of more expensive pants at no cost, but Orage confirmed the confusion so I'm sticking with these.

Sherpa Adventure Gear Lungta Hybrid Jacket - Men's

November 21, 2011

Well, I got my jacket today so I'll answer my own question. No it doesn't. It doesn't have any loops for a base layer either. I'll comment on the "pit zips" also. I can't decide if I like them or not. They are more "rib cage zips" than anything. If you're looking for serious venting around the armpits you won't get that from this jacket, but I do like the placement when wearing my fleece underneath, as these zippers are perfect for allowing me access to the fleece pockets.

Just purchased this jacket and was wondering if it is compataible with a clip-in or zip-in fleece? If so, does anyone know of any models Sherpa or otherwise that would fit?
thanks
