Very small

Crumpler Salary Sacrifice Backpack

Crumpler Salary Sacrifice Backpack

Rating for this product: 3 August 25, 2011

This is a good bag, but it is very small. I have a 12.1" Lenovo and it barely fits in the laptop sleeve. I usually have to shove it to get it to fit in. If you're looking to fit a textbook, it would be a tight squeeze. I can fit my nalgene bottle and lunch, and maybe a jacket, but not much else.

I don't want to ding the bag too much for its size. It is very well constructed, very comfy, and has a ton of pockets. Almost too many. A lot of the pockets are super long and I lose my keys in them all the time. Given the small size of the bag, it also seems rather heavy. It is fairly comfortable, though, and I think it looks slick.

Bottom line - if you're looking for a small laptop bag, this might be worth looking into. I got this on SAC, otherwise it is definitely not worth the $145 retail price tag.

A lot of sleeping bag

Rab Summit 900 Sleeping Bag: -4 Degree Down - Women's

Rab Summit 900 Sleeping Bag: -4 Degree Down - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 July 19, 2011

I just received this and it's going back. Not that this isn't a good bag, but be warned, this is just a lot of bag. I currently have an REI 10 degree bag. Thought I might want something a bit warmer, and tried this. This bag is more than double the thickness of my REI bag. Not that it's bad, but the packed size is also about double. The worst part is that it definitely needs a compression sack for it to be packed anywhere. With the included compression sack, the bag weighs closer to 4.8 - 5 pounds than the 1700g it advertises. If you need are going for extreme expeditions, this might be a good bag for you. I'm looking at several day glacier climbs (ie. Rainier). This is way too much.

Great day pack and for use around town, too

Gregory Z 25 Backpack - 1525-1650cu in

Gregory Z 25 Backpack - 1525-1650cu in

Rating for this product: 5 June 1, 2011

This pack has 2 features that are hard to find these days
1. A front panel that fits a helmet, wet clothes, food, or a laptop (for use around town)
2. Two side pockets that fit nalgene bottles.

The size of the pack is great - perfect for a day hike, or this is also my go-to bag for a weekend trip in town. The front pouch fits my laptop and it is super easy to take out the laptop at the airport.

The suspension is very comfortable. I've had about 28 pounds in it and it felt fine. I wouldn't go much heavier than that though. There are plenty of compression straps to make the back small when it's fairly empty. There's a zippered pouch area inside the pack, too, which helps organization.

My only complaint is that there is limited space that you can get to without opening the entire pack up. There is a small pocket on top of the pack, but that's it. I'd like to be able to get to my food without opening up my whole pack, but hey, I don't think many other packs this size do this any better. That's the only small drawback of an otherwise perfect pack.

Love these pants

Cloudveil Inertia Peak Touring Pant - Women's

Cloudveil Inertia Peak Touring Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 7, 2010

These are my go to pants for alpine / glacier climbing. I was looking for a softshell that was slightly thicker than convertible hiking pants, but not too thick that it would be way too hot. A lot of the fleece lined softshells that I saw were just too heavy and thick. These were perfect. They are great by themselves or with a base layer underneath. They are water resistant but you'll nee to throw a shell over them if the weather gets really bad. The material is slightly stretchy making them extremely comfortable...And I love the thigh pocket. They can also roll up into capris if it's hotter at the trailhead. There are no venting zippers but I've never needed them.

These pants have been extremely versatile and I've taken them everywhere. They are also very durable. Personally I don't think they're very stylish (a bit tapered at the ankles) but with gaiters on, who cares =)

Strap in the back always falls off

Mammut Vision Harness - Women's

Mammut Vision Harness - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 August 30, 2010

I've had this harness for a few months now, and yes it's comfortable, but the strap in the back always comes off. The strap is held on by an open hook, so I can not count the number of times the harness comes out of my pack and I have to spend a bunch of time untangling it to put it back on, or even worse, many many times that I've put the harness on and have the strap comes off in the process of putting it on. It is impossible to hook that strap back on without taking off your gloves and even at that, it's hard to manage. I am trading mine in for one with buckles in the back.

Mountain Hardwear Helion 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

June 16, 2010

Has anyone had experience using this tent with snow? Would this hold up for snow camping? (I currently have a 3-season tent that works well, but it is not all mesh like this one)

Good shell pants

Outdoor Research Enigma Pant - Women's

Outdoor Research Enigma Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 May 20, 2010

Nice, durable, gore-tex shell pants with full side zips. I've mainly been using these for hiking / mountaineering and they have kept me really dry. Stash it at the bottom of my pack and when needed, super easy on and off with the full zip. The gore-tex pro shell feels very durable, too, and is reinforced in all the essential places.

With all that said, I have two small complaints
1. These run a bit short. I'm 5'3" and nothing is short on me! ;-) I usually wear these over gaiters so it's fine, but they are a tad bit short.

2. no pockets at all. As noted in the other review, these pants have no pockets (other than the one near the ankle which i've never used). I see the benefits of this, and as a shell pant, it's just fine...but I wouldn't necessarily want to wear these as a go-to ski pant just because it's pretty inconvenient not to have any pockets.

Stiff and uncomfortable

Black Diamond Guide Gloves - Women's

Black Diamond Guide Gloves - Women's

Rating for this product: 1 May 20, 2010

Just ordered these and have some of the same complaints as the other reviews. 1. the inner glove is made of a really weird material...feels like wool! 2. they are super stiff.

I have a pair of Black Diamond Stratos gloves and like them much better. The Stratos was soft and comfortable right out of the box, and the inside is a soft fleece. I'm sending the Guide gloves back asap.

Can't say enough good things about these

Oakley Grapevine Transitions Sunglasses - Women's

Oakley Grapevine Transitions Sunglasses - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 September 15, 2009

Awesome style, fits very well. I typically have a hard time fitting sunglasses (high cheekbones, low nose bridge) and have never been able to fit a pair of sunglasses that don't have nose pads. Well these fit perfectly! The frames look big but aren't too big for a woman's face. Super clear lense, I can wear these anywhere...casually, hiking, biking, snowboarding. Agree that I don't notice the lenses actually transition but what I do notice is that these glasses are fine in super bright sun, as well as indoors and driving through a tunnel. That's about as much transitioning as I need!

Dusty Rose = Pink

Teva Dristi Shoe - Women's

Teva Dristi Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 November 7, 2008

Just received these. They're comfortable but the color is not what it looks like in the picture. The "Dusty Rose" color on the website looks more dusty (like a khaki / brown / neutral color). In reality, it's pink...which is fine if you like pink ;-)
