Marmot Ranks High But Fits Snug

I've been wearing Marmot coats for years but what I am finding is their trend is toward snugger fitting clothing. No, I'm not getting larger - ;-). I confirmed with Marmot that if you've always worn a Large, you now should order an XL and so on.
The main complaint I have with the Tamarack and Bastione jackets is the armpit zipper in the liner sleeve that will occasionally scratch a knuckle if I'm not careful while putting it on. The zipper is a completely useless feature.

Marmot has gone snug

It's not that I've gotten larger. I am the same size. It's because Marmot's component coats are designed snugger than they used to be. I confirmed that. So an XL fits in the body more like a Large, and so on. I am bummed because I otherwise love Marmot's products and bought an XL Tamarack Component Jacket to replace one with a broken zipper. The old one fit wonderfully, the new one doesn't permit enough room for winter clothing, like a sweater or even heavier long-sleeved shirt. Otherwise, the jacket is made well, just on the snug side.
