Gore Bike Wear Oxygen SO Toe Protector

OK. Don't laugh, but I'm a commuter and I don't want to remove my toe clips from my pedals or always have to wear my cycling shoes for my commute. I'm thinking of using these toe protectors to cover my regular shoes or to fix to the toe clips semi-permanently to keep my shoes from getting scuffed up by the clips. Does this seem plausible?
