Stoic WPF Compression Sack - 3pk

July 15, 2012

After I was finished with all my winter climate countries I was ready to drop those clothes so I only had to carry around hot climate clothes for the next 3 months in Central America. I shipped home the medium stuff sack full of cold weather clothes and dropped some clothes that fell apart after 3 months in Africa, and this was what I was left with. Yay for downsizing!!

Still Perfect After 1 Year

Stoic WPF Compression Sack - 3pk

Rating for this product: 5 July 15, 2012

I bought these off Steep and Cheap for my 11 month, 11 country trek around the world. This trek involved me needing to pack clothes for every season, from a typhoon in the Philippines to record heat in Mozambique to record cold and snow in Romania.

I was able to fit it ALL in these stuff saks. I put socks, underwear and a swimsuit in the small, summer weather clothes in the medium, and winter weather clothes in the large. They've held up impeccably, I've never had to use the repair kit, and they compressed SO much (by my friends and I sitting on them and also sucking the air out of the valve) that they left PLENTY of room for my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, shoes, and much more to all fit INSIDE my 75 liter pack. They are ready to go for another 11 months, I on the other hand need a little break! :)

I literally don't have a bad thing to say about these pants! They will be going with me on an 11 month 11 country backpacking trip. They couldnt be more perfect for my travels. And I absolutely LOVE that they come in a "long" option. I can't stand it when pants are too short!

Got this in the pink and I LOVE it! I love the brightness of the color and it fits perfectly (I'm 5' 5", 105 lbs & got an XS). It's super comfy too. I love the cut of the neckline because it gives it just a little more style than a regular tank while still staying modest enough.

Obsessed

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2011

SO comfy! Such a luxury to have while camping. Makes an afternoon nap under the trees absolute heaven! I got 2, 10 ft pieces of rope to use to tie this guy up and I can shove the hammock AND the rope all in the little "stuff sac" that's attached to the hammock. Sweet. Plus, both my boyfriend and I can nap in this together comfortably, so it is a generous "single" nest! :)

Osprey Packs Ariel 75 Backpack - Women's - 4400-4600cu in

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2011

I will be taking this pack on an 11 month, 11 country backpacking trip around the world! It is PERFECT! It holds all of my gear (clothes, 3 pairs of shoes, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, mess kit, etc.) with EASE! Granted, I made sure all my gear is SUPER lightweight and compact, but dang, this thing holds it all with plenty of room to spare. I love that I can pull all the straps so tight and pack it all down to wear it looks like a 65 pack, but I know that I have the room to use the full 75 if need be. Many of my fellow squadmates got small packs (like the 65) but they have half of their gear hanging off the outside of the pack - ANNOYING! I love that I can fit everything INSIDE. So much safer and easier for traveling from country to country. I've already used it on a few camping trips in the states and it was perfect, can't wait to take it around the world starting in September!

KUHL Splash Roll-Up Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 July 27, 2011

I LOVE it when pants aren't floods on me! These pants fit great all around. There is a tiny bit of gapping in the back of the waist on me, but not enough to give anybody a butt crack show. I love that they can be rolled up - multi functional is such an advantage when you're taking these pants backpacking around the world! fyi I'm between 5' 5" and 5' 6" and about 105 lbs, I got a size 2.

These shorts were a great fit and super comfy, but when it came down to it, they just weren't cute enough for me! They felt really "tom boy-ish" when I put them on. So probably great for some people, just not my style!

Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Women's

June 8, 2011

This jacket is super packable. I invert one of the pockets and stuff the whole jacket into it. It is VERY lightweight. I wouldn't consider the material breathable however it has zippers in the armpits so all you gotta do is unzip those and you're good to go. I would not consider this jacket to be long, but it does come below my hips. I LOVE this jacket!

Chaco ZX/2 Unaweep Sandal - Women's

Chaco ZX/2 Unaweep Sandal - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 June 2, 2011

After trying both the Keen Newport H2 and the Teva Tirra sandals, I have chosen these to be my sandals for backpacking around the world. I have extremely narrow feet, so the fact that you can adjust all the straps is AMAZING.

I wasn't crazy about chacos color options, but I ordered the Foxy Green and I LOVE it! I love that these are more sandal like than both Keens and Tevas and that there arent laces or velcro all over the shoe like Tevas and Keens.

You definitely have to break these shoes in, the straps rubbed in a couple places after I walked in them a lot, but they dont anymore. I also got a small blister on the bottom of my foot from the arch. I'm so used to wearing flat shoes with no arch support that after walking around in these shoes for two days straight the arch was giving me some foot pain and rubbing in a little blister. Again, this is something that has gone away now that I have broken them in and adjusted to them.

Overall they are the BEST possible option in both fit and function. I really don't think there is anything better out there. Chaco has officially won me over :)

Perfect fit!

prAna Kai Knicker - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 26, 2011

I am SO happy about the fit of these shorts! It is rare that I find a pair of prAna shorts/pants in a size 0, usually I only see them go down to a size 2. I have decided that I cannot wear prAna pants because they do not make them long enough. If I get a size 2, they are WAY too wide in the hips but still to short in length. But when getting a short/capri I don't have the length problem anymore and because these shorts came in a 0 AND they have a drawcord waist, I can make them fit my hips perfectly! It's a wonderful feeling when clothes truly fit :)

I was also pleasantly surprised with the color. I got these in the zinc color and it ended up being darker than the picture, which I like because then they won't look dirty too quickly. And the mesh pockets? Icing on the cake!

Great for a Husky

Ruffwear Swamp Cooler Dog Vest

Rating for this product: 5 May 19, 2011

Since it's spring my husky hasn't gotten to fully appreciate the wonders of this product in the heat yet, but once he does I'm sure he will fall in love. It's amazing how long it stays cool for! I got the small because that was the only size left, and it works, but the medium probably would have been ideal for the length. I would like it to cover a little bit more of his back. It is also a little snug around his neck, but we will probably put a little cut in the neck where the material makes a "V" and stitch the edges so they don't fray to give him a little bit more neck room. Overall, we're very happy with this product!

Very Convenient

Ruffwear Bivy Dog Bowl

Rating for this product: 4 May 9, 2011

I love the convenience of this dog bowl! However we got a medium and we're thinking about exchanging it for a small because of the amount of water we would have to carry around on hiking trips in order to fill up the bowl enough. Even though we just got this bowl, I can see what Michael said about it losing its shape. It is very sturdy now, but I can see it getting kind of worn and warped after several months of wear and tear. But for now, I am very happy with the function of this bowl.

Ruffwear Mt. Bachelor Pad Dog Bed

Rating for this product: 5 May 9, 2011

This bed really is perfect for people who like to travel with their dog. The large takes up the whole back seat of my boyfriend's Ford Focus so it is great protection for the leather and super comfy for our dog. I LOVE how easy it is to roll this bed up and take it anywhere. With it's great portability and waterproof bottom, our dog can comfortably be as mobile as we are. I cannot wait to take it out to a shady spot for our dog to relax while we climb or camp. It's pretty clear that when I want to spoil my dog, I should go to ruffwear :)

Great Beginner Shoe

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 4 May 2, 2011

If you are a beginner I would highly recommend these shoes to you. If you have very narrow feet, like me, I would highly suggest you get these in the lace version. Get these as small and painfully tight as you can possibly stand them, they WILL stretch, and if you climb regularly, as you get better as a climber, you will probably "grow" out of these real quick.

I got these as my first climbing shoe and after climbing about 3-5 times a week for about 3 months these shoes could know longer match my abilities as a climber and it was time to move on to a more aggressive shoe. When I do put these shoes back on they feel HUGE and I wish I would have gotten them a lot smaller, even though they felt "tight" to me when I first got them.

Not Good for Narrow Feet

La Sportiva Katana Rock Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe - Women's

La Sportiva Katana Rock Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 May 2, 2011

If you have narrow feet, I would not suggest getting these. I would highly suggest, for a more aggressive climber with narrow feet to get the women's Miura lace instead. I really wanted to like these shoes, I gave them a very fair shot. But the pain goes beyond just breaking in the shoes because if you have extremely narrow feet like me, you have to pull the velcro straps so tight that it makes the material gap in some places and bunch in others, resulting in some very painful pressure points.

I'm sure for people with regular to wide feet this shoe works out great, and I think they look cute too! But if you have very narrow feet, it is much more worth it to suck it up and get shoes with laces despite the appeal of having convenient velcro shoes.

Hurts So Good

La Sportiva Miura Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe - Women's

La Sportiva Miura Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 2, 2011

After a frustrating journey with different shoes, I think I have finally found the ones for me with the Miuras! I wear an 8.5 in regular street shoes and I got these in a 37, so I sized down 2.5 sizes. So basically, my feet are in agony right now as a break in these shoes! But I know that it is going to be totally worth it once I break these in because even through my agony, I can already tell that I am trusting these shoes the way I need to in order to climb as hard as I want to.

Also, I have EXTREMELY narrow feet. This is the main reason I decided to go with the Miuras, because before this I tried the Katanas and they were NOT a good fit for someone with narrow feet. Having a shoe with laces instead of velcro is ideal so that I can get these shoes as tight as I want to with out any weird bunching or gaps from having velcro straps.

So, even though breaking these in is painful, I am so happy because I finally have a shoe I can trust to climb as aggressive as I want!

I will be returning this top. It is cute, but I got this top at the same time I got the prAna Abi tank top. I fell in love with the Abi so much that I knew I would never want to wear this top when I could be wearing the Abi instead. The material in the Abi is CRAZY soft & comfy and in my opinion the design of the Abi is so much cuter! Since they're in the same price range, I would say skip this top and get the Abi!

Almost Perfect

prAna Cadence Cargo Pant - Women's

prAna Cadence Cargo Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 April 8, 2011

These pants are versatile, lightweight, stretchy, and comfy - all great things for a climber/traveler! However there were a couple things that made them not quite perfect for me.

I ordered a size 2. I'm about 5' 5" and 100 lbs. My legs are long and skinny yet I have wide hips. These pants were not as long as I'd like them to be, I feel a little uncomfortable wearing them with regular shoes because I'm afraid they look like borderline "floods" but since you can roll 'em up and buttom them as capris I'm willing to ignore the slight lack of length. Also, despite the fact that I have wide hips, the pants are still too wide at the waist... probably due to the stretchiness. This is something I can easily fix with a belt, but I would prefer not to have to wear a belt with my climbing harness on.

Overall, I'm happy I got them! :)
