I have never been so disappointed with such a well-reviewed product in my life. I am training for a marathon, and have recently entered the "really long training run" phase of typically 17+ miles. Instead of doing water drops along the way, I decided to purchase, a MULE. Made sense. Keeps things simple and elegant. I ran an 18 miler yesterday. The water sack/valve/ mouthpiece apparatus is very fine and worked like a charm. The various pack straps, however, were a horror story. The sternum strap, because of the silly sliding connectors which keep it mated to a vertical cord on the shoulder straps, slid up and became a throat strap when I cinched it. Very tight, very unpleasant and it prevented me from yodeling during my run. The shoulder straps were equally flawed. Approximately every 100 yards they would loosen significantly, and I had to re-cinch them so the pack would stay tight to my shoulders and back. I don't know if it had to do with the shifting water in the bladder or what, but it was getting to me by about mile 2. I intend to return it.
