Nice Jacket

The North Face Vortex Triclimate Jacket - Men's

The North Face Vortex Triclimate Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2011

I'm 5'8 and 185 lbs with a 42-43 inch chest and sleeve length is 33" so I'm usually a Large but end up with Gorilla Sleeves. This jacket is built a bit more roomy in the body than some North Face so the Medium fits well and the sleeve lenght is better for me. Even with a medium there's room for either a fleece midlayer or if needed could swap the Heatseeker liner for a Down liner (but doubt I'll need it) should temps drop to the single digits or below.

Just got it and took it for a test run yesterday. Started with temps at 31 and as the evening arrived continued into night skiing in the Pacific Northwest with temps dropping down to the mid 20's. With a light base layer and the jacket liner in it was ideal. Totally comfortable even at the cooler temps. No rain today so didn't test the waterproofing. Hyvent 2L should be fine though. I tend to run warm but didn't notice any chilling even after spending some time in the overheated lodge so the jacket and liner do seem to work well to wick off perspiration as well as keeping things warm and dry.

The Buddy Lift Clip is shared with the goggle wipe and is in the sleeve pocket. Snaps in the back are for compatible pants.

What's not to like

The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's

The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2011

I'm 5'8 and weigh 185. The Large-Short length works out just right for my 35" waist and 30" inseam. Nice to find ski pants in a short length. Sizing is very true to their chart and a bit forgiving with the waist adjustment.

I went with the uninsulated and for skiing they are very good into the low 20's when used with a mid/light-weight base layer. They are lined. Pacific NW weather hasn't dropped to the single digits yet so can't say how they'll do when things get colder. If you spend a lot of time in colder/windy conditions you might want to consider the insulated version.

There are enough pockets including a large one on the right leg, all but that one zip... the large one only has a velcro'd flap and no zipper.(I'd like to see a zipper there too).

The leg fit, like most of todays ski/snowboarding pants is full, little tailoring there but they are warm, keep you dry and look right. I like them and giv them 5 stars.
