Okay, so I just spent about 2 months searching for the perfect down jacket. I tried about 7 different jackets looking for the perfect combination of warmth, style, compressibility, and water resistance. I finally settled on Patagonia's down jacket for women; it came out on top with everything I was looking for. I love the longer sleeves, the stitching pattern, and of course the color: purple! The day after selecting it, I wore it to a concert and got caught in the rain sans umbrella on my way there. I walked about 5 blocks in the rain and the jacket stayed completely dry (the water just beaded and ran off) and kept me toasty warm. At the concert, I packed it into the stuff sack and used it as a cushion to sit higher in my chair to see the stage better. I love Patagonia and all that they stand for and I am super-duper happy with my selection. I also discovered backcountry.com during this search and now have a new favorite outdoor gear website.
