La Sportiva Wildcat Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 13, 2012

This is anothe great Sportiva shoes that I run in regularly. I generally use on rugged trails where there is a lot of varied terrain. These shoes are great because they are fairly lightweight but still beefy enough to protect you from rocks, etc. These also drain very well so are great when you have frequent water crossings. Many times I will use these for the wetter sections of a trail race.

La Sportiva Raptor Trail Running Shoe - Men's

La Sportiva Raptor Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 13, 2012

I got turned on to these shoes when my racing team was supported by Sportiva. These are great shoes for rugged mountain terrain. The lugs on the bottom are great for gripping on slippery rocks, logs, etc. The only downside is the shoes don't drain as good as other models but it is not terrible. I have worn these shoes in the Massanutten 100 and the Grindstone 100 and they held up great both times. If you know those races, then you know that shoes can literally get shredded by the rocks. On tough rugged courses, these shoes are always at least a part of my plan during the race.

Marmot Precip Jacket

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 13, 2012

This is perhaps the most versatile piece of running gear I own. I have used it in 100 mile ultra races, hiking in the backcountry of NC and even while deep sea fishing. The great thing about the jacket is it can keep you warm and keep moisture out makig it great for races where you are moving through various altitudes. When I was looking for a good versatile jacket, a running friend suggested it since he uses it at Hardrock every year. That sold me and I have now bought three of these. The zippers under the arms are great for venting when you start to warm up but need to keep out rain or snow. Defintely worth the money.

Patagonia Ultra Short

Patagonia Ultra Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 13, 2012

This has become a go to short for m - especially for long races with a fair amount of time between aid stations. The shorts have lots of pockets so you can be your own moving drop bag. However, the locations are great so you don't feel weighed down by them. Patagonia is one of my favorite companies and these shorts are among the best I have ever bought. They are a little longer than most running shorts but I generally wear longer shorts. Great shorts overall.

Suunto Vector HR Watch

Suunto Vector HR Altimeter Watch

Suunto Vector HR Altimeter Watch

Rating for this product: 5 June 13, 2012

I am on my second one of these beauties. First one got left in a hotel room. Anyway, this watch does a great job of "walking the line" between functionality and ease of use. If you are in to tracking data on your HR, splits, altitude, etc., you can certainly do that. If you are looking to just have a basic HR watch with some cool add on features (like temperature and a compass), it qworks great for that too. It is made incredibly well andf is very comfortable to wear. One detractor for those very serious techies is that it is not conectable to a computer but that wasn't a big deal to me. Price is reasonable too. Great product.
