As an older woman skier who has retired from recreational ski racing, I was looking for a compromise boot. I gave my Solomon classical racing boots to my daughter who is on the high school ski team and purchased the Vitane 7 for myself to use on my casual ski outings.
The Vitane is light in weight, warm and easy to put one's foot. The sole, as advertised, feels quite safe for walking across a somewhat icy parking lot to access a groomed trail.
The cost of the Vitane is about a third of the cost of racing boots. Yet, it has many of the same features as a racing boot.
I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I tried to purchase this same boot at any of our local stores at the end of December. Those who carried the Vitane had only a few boots left and only in odd sizes. I ordered here for the first time and received my boots in a timely manner.
