Marmot Baffin Insulated Jacket - Men's
February 9, 2011
Jules,
The MH is going to be a good bit heavier, if that matters to you. The MH will resists tearing, rips and the like better but it will not be at all water resistant. the Marmot will do a better of job of shedding light water, though as you may know synthetic still maintains its warmth fairly well even when wet. as for warmth, there isnt much difference. It comes down to what it will be sued for, if it is going to take a beating i say MH but if it is going to be for use under a jacket and or just walking around, marmot may be the ticket

Patagonia Nano Puff Pullover Insulated Jacket - Men's
November 10, 2010
Bmac, its a unique fit in my opinion. its short in length (so it fits well under a shell), but not to terribly then that you wont fit anything under it. it has a nice tapered fit. i am 5'10 170 and a medium fits just snug enough. has a little room but not puffy by any means. i have a better sweater and i would say in with (around the chest and stomach) it is very similar, though the better sweater is longer booth in the sleeves and in the torso. the arms are also slightly roomier in the puff to accommodate layers under it.

Marmot Power Stretch Half-Zip Fleece Jacket - Men's
October 20, 2010
mbolang2259811, it really depends on how you want it to fit. If you are just going to be wearing this over a base layer like a cap and for lounging around the house then i believe a L should be just fine for you. if you go for a XL the sleevs will be rather long and there will be significant bulking up around the mid section. however, if you are going to be wearing this over more than a layer or 2 i would say you may think about the XL, but i think the L should suit you just fine as it does have a good amount of stretch to it.

Columbia Lhotse Mountain Parka - Men's
October 19, 2010
Jang, this jacket is going to be pretty darn waterproof, though it is not gore. this means it wont stand up to all day downpours, though i doubt that is what you are looking for. if you need a jacket for left access skiing then this will be just fine. the reason i say lift access is that this wont be very breathable when it comes to skinning or long treks up the mtn. i would like to suggest however that you look at a jacket like the marmot Morzine. it will be a little better quality than the Columbia and will provide just as much waterproofing as well as better breath ability. the only difference is that it isnt seam sealed. though if you need this for what i imagine you do that wont be an issue.

Patagonia Guide Softshell Jacket - Men's
October 18, 2010
Just posted this on the Talus page but figured i would post here as well...is there a significant difference in warmth between this and the Talus jacket? i want a soft shell that is reasonably warm on its own. basically looking for just wind resistance, durability and somewhat water repellent. a priority is placed on durability though. any suggestions. if it helps im 5'10 175 and prefer a jacket that isnt form fitting but isnt terribly baggy either. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (i already have windproof soft shells and water proof soft shells, just looking for something in between basically.

has anybody had a chance to check this jacket out first hand? i was wondering how soft the interior is and whether the exterior would hold up to some light work just carrying some wood and little things like that.

The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 1525 - 9460cu in
September 30, 2010
ohh yeah this bag will work. a 33lb weight limit is the only limiting factor here. you could easily fit twice that in the large and the XL is about the size of a minivan. i would say go with a medium or large. unless you packing for 2 months in India there really is no need for the XL

Patagonia R4 Fleece Jacket - Men's
September 30, 2010
it does have a slim waist line and it fairly stretchy actual. though i will say this it is tough to size right. the large was right for me in the chest and left enough room for a cap base layer underneath but was not as tight as i would have liked at the waist, and the medium was perfect at the waist but no quite roomy enough for me as i wanted to be able to wear something underneath if i had to. i went with the large and figured i would deal with a little draft if it came up, but over all im happy with it, the stretch is decent enough for me, though a cinch would have been better
