Warm, comfy and breathable

Helly Hansen Warm Freeze 1/2-Zip Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 4, 2011

I wear this as a baselayer for both resort and BC skiing and love it. I can get a little warm on long (or steep) CA ski tours but it does breathe well. Comfy, doesn't itch or chafe. The length is nice and long so it stays tucked in.

Good, Not Great

Icebreaker GT 200 Pace Crew - Long Sleeve - Women's

Icebreaker GT 200 Pace Crew - Long Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 13, 2011

I LOVE wool baselayers. Warm, light, no stink--it really doesn't get much better. My only complaint with this piece is that the neck opening is a little tight. I also have a 1/4 zip version and I like it much better.

Nice Softshell

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Gamma AR Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 September 13, 2011

Breathable and warm for moderate temps or athletic pursuits. The material is a little on the noisy side, although I only really notice this if I'm wearing the jacket somewhere very quiet (like my office, which somehow is always freezing). This jacket is definitely tailored towards climbing/mountaineering--the pockets are placed rather high (for access while wearing a harness) and the jacket is significantly shorter in the front. Minimal features and pockets keep weight down. It looks a little odd wearing it around town but is a GREAT technical piece. If you're looking for a softshell to climb or BC ski in, this would be a great choice. If you're only looking for something to wear around town in the winter you might want to look elsewhere (and save yourself some $$).

Yes, you can cram in a 15" laptop but it does tend to get in the way of using the top pocket.

Solid Fleece Jacket

Patagonia El Cap Fleece Jacket - Women's

Patagonia El Cap Fleece Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 August 31, 2011

Nice mid-weight fleece. Works as a great midlayer on colder ski days (in CA). Has a feminine ish fit and tapers slightly at the waist. My only complaint is that the jacket doesn't pack down well, although that seems to be pretty standard for fleece like this.

Best rain jacket ever!

Outdoor Research Reflexa Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 August 23, 2011

Lightweight and flexible while still being sturdy and waterproof. I wore this all of last winter in San Francisco (lots of misty days and plenty of rain) as well as ski tours in the backcountry when the weather was bad and was always dry underneath it. The large pit zips are GREAT for aerobic activities, they dump heat well and the jacket actually seems to breathe (even with the zips closed).

I've also worn this jacket as a windbreaker while climbing granite in Yosemite and it held up AMAZINGLY. No damage!

I cannot imagine a better product. Its great alone or as a layer when the weather is colder.

Patagonia Nano Puff Pullover Insulated Jacket - Men's

July 30, 2011

I'm 5'7 and ~125 lbs. I have the small and it fits nicely. The S is a little long in the arms for me, but XS would definitely be way too small in the shoulders.

Great Tshirt!

EMU Dundee Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

EMU Dundee Crew Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 July 21, 2011

I wear this shirt everywhere! Looks great with jeans for a casual day about town but also steps it up in the backcountry. I wear this all the time backcountry skiing and its always a great base layer. Keeps me warm when its cold, cool when its not and at the end of the day, IT DOESN'T SMELL! Magic. I've even gone running in this in hot and humid conditions and while it didn't dry as fast as a synthetic t-shirt, it still performed well.

Great all around ski

Black Diamond Joule Ski - Women's

Black Diamond Joule Ski - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 26, 2011

I bought these to take backcountry, and mounted them with a pair of Dynafits. I'm 5'6 and weigh 120lbs and went with the 165 length. They are nice and light for touring and still perform well on the downhill. I've also skied them in bounds on very, very icy days and they held their edges amazingly well with no chatter, which I found surprising for such a light ski.Bottom line: LOVE THEM! Amazing in pretty much all conditions.
