Merino isn't just for sox.
No problems in quality on mine, works great as all merino will. Great for the long haul when you can't change frequently. Especially if you're going to get wet - rain, canoeing etc - and it's cold. I feel these ride up the thigh a little more often than my standard cotton boxer-briefs, but not uncomfortably so.
