I was at one time a Montrail die hard fan wearing shoes in races from 50K to 100 milers until a few years ago when I noticed a significant decline in the product quality (uppers and lower were breaking down way too fast). This is my first attempt to wear the brand again and I couldn't be much happier with the Rockridge. The shoe seems to run a bit bigger (size down 1/2 size to be safe) but all in all the shoe is stiff enough to protect from sharp rocks and nimble enough to pick through technical single track. The traction is solid in mud and relatively sticky on smooth rock surfaces. A marginal crossover shoe if you need to tack on some road miles in-between trail heads. The true test of this shoe will be how it handles a few hundred more miles down the trail in terms of quality.
