The Hurricane Pro is significantly stiffer than the Spirit 4. It also will not work in a Dynafit binding like your Spirits. If you want a more direct replacement of the Spirit take a look at the Skookum. Also I would suggest going down a shell size to a 25.5 or 26.

These are significantly lighter than the Glaciers your used to. They won't offer nearly as much support and the fabric while lighter and more breathable will not be as durable as a full leather boot. For trail work I'd recommend something in between the glacier and the Nangpa-la. Something like the Bhutan GTX would be on the lighter end for support but still very durable.

I used this boot on Shasta in May and it was perfect. If you go later in the season you might be able to get away with something like the Triolet Pro or Charmoz both of which are not insulated.

Your right on the cusp. If you go with a size 26 (or smaller) NTN boot (what I would recommend) you'll need the small size binding. If you go with a size 26.5 (or bigger) boot you'll need the large size binding

They use Gore-tex so they will be waterproof for the life of the shoe. However, after some use you may want to re-treat the leather so that breathability stays high.

Should be the same size for you in the Gea, but the Gea is 1mm narrower in the forefoot than the T2. Heel should fit about the same, maybe a little tighter.

The Vapor V shoe is not a full suede upper. It uses Lorica in the Toe box which doesn't really stretch that much.

Can't compare to the Vajolet but my E width foot fits great in the Charmoz

It will depend on when you intend to use them. The Charmoz is a non-insulated boot so it will work great in warmer temperatures but may not be warm enough if you go earlier in the season. If you want an insulated boot I'd check out the Mont Blanc.

The Phantom will be a bit warmer than the Mont Blanc but not as warm as a double boot.

Can't compare to the Titan but the Hurricane Pro and the Mobe will ski and fit very similar. The main difference between the two is binding compatibility. The Hurricane will work in Alpine bindings and all AT bindings except Tech style. The Mobe will work in all Tech style bindings but not in Alpine bindings.

This boot has two forward lean settings. To get into the "less aggressive" setting start in walk mode and flex the cuff back. With the cuff back flip the ski/walk mechanism to ski and slowly push the cuff forward. This should always get you to the more upright setting. To get into the "more aggressive" setting start in walk mode and pressure the cuff as far forward as you can. Flip the ski walk mechanism to ski and slowly bring the cuff back and that should get you into the forward setting.

Yes there is a risk of pre-release and yes you do need to do something special. The boots come with a spacer that slides into the crampon attachment on your Dynafits. This spacer prevents the bellows from flexing and helps to keep the release more consistent. If you don't have the spacer you can get them from Scarpa or you can fashion your own.

No, the TX Comp will not work in any fixed heel binding. The flex at the bellows will screw up any sort of predictable release and might possibly cause pre-release.

I'd go 110mm and bend them. I got 95mm brakes to work on my 97mm waisted skis with no problem.

I think your friend is playing a joke on you (or your playing a joke on me and I'm falling for it). The Booster is about as far as you can get from a beginner shoe. I would recommend your first shoe should be something flat lasted like the Thunder, Veloce or Force. Try on as many as you can and pick the one that fits the best.

I think these will hold up pretty well, but if durability is your main thing consider the Scarpa Mont Blanc. Very similar fit but with a beefy leather upper.

They feel average width to me. I have a wide foot and am able to get a comfortable fit in these. The lacing to the toe really allows for a lot of adjustment.

My "E" width foot fits fine in these. I think the lacing to the toe allows for quite a bit of adjustment

It's not the same. The TX Comp/Pro fits a bit wider than the T1. That said I know a number of people who are able to get a good fit in both boots. It all depends on your feet.

No, the Maestrale does not have a DIN compatible sole and will not fit in alpine bindings. They will work with any Alpine Touring binding including the tech style bindings, but not standard alpine bindings

The NTN boots don't have a duckbill like the 75mm Tele boots, and the NTN boots have a "second heel" underneath the forefoot that the binding grabs onto.

I've found these to be really stiff for a low cut shoe. These are actually my go to backpacking shoe because I don't feel I need a high top and most low cuts are too soft underfoot. These are perfect.

You'll want to get these about 1-2 sizes down from your Street shoe size. Not sure how that compares to Sportiva sizing. In general the Instinct will be more sensitive/softer than the Miura, and it's a great all around shoe that favors more overhanging climbing

These are much more of a beefy hiker than a climber. If you like the Guide Tennie you'd be much better off looking at the Gecko Guide as a comparable shoe.

It depends on what your goals are. Will you be spending most of your time at the resorts/in bounds? Do you tend to be an aggressive skier? If so I'd recommend the T1 instead. If your looking for more of a backcountry boot for longer tours then the T2 would be a better choice.

Most people will downsize around half to a whole size from their street shoe size. Go half size down if you want it for longer days or a whole size if you are looking for a more performance fit.

The Triolet Pro is mostly leather with a full rubber rand and is one of our most popular boots for Mountain Guides so you can be assured that they will be plenty robust. People looking for a lighter (aka less robust boot) will go with the Charmoz which is all synthetic materials. The Triolet Pro tends to run pretty average for width so unless your feet are really really narrow you should be okay.

I wore Anasazis in my street shoe size of 8.5, now I wear my Vapors in a 7.5. Both fit me pretty well and I have a slightly wider foot.

The Serac Strap Crampon will work best. The Clip will not fit on these boots as they do not have a heel welt.

The TX Pro because the TX Comp doesn't have a walk mode. If you need the biggest burliest boot the TX Comp will come with a walk mode next year.

I think a 39.5 in the Vapor Vs is a pretty safe bet for you. Also I found the heel on the Vapor to fit similar to the Feroce.

A normal trail runner uses EVA foam for cushion and support, but the Kailash uses a combination of PU and EVA which will last considerably longer than EVA only. Depending on use these boots should last you many years.

Actually they won't stretch that much. The toe (white part) is a synthetic Lorica that doesn't really strech much at all but rather will conform to your foot.

This does use the same last as the Bhutan and we do not make a "wide women's." You might try the men's Kailash and Bhutan. They will fit wider than the women's, and we even offer a men's wide also.

I'd suggest trying both on and seeing which one fits better.

Wow! they certainly do look similar. From what I can tell on the Trango the biggest difference is going to be fit. The Trango Last tends to fit a narrower foot better and the Triolet tends to fit a wider foot better. The one nice feature of the Triolet is that we use PU inserts under the heel and the forefoot (the orange pads) which will provide significatly more cusioning underfoot. This comes in handy for those long approaches.

These boots are built on the same BX last so sizing should be the same.

I've been skiing mine on a 110mm underfoot and loving it in the Colorado backcountry. That being said the same ski setup might be a bit much for the boots inbounds but I haven't tried yet.

The Charmoz is made with synthetic materials vs the Triolet which is made from leather. The Charmoz is lighter but the Triolet is more durable. Neither the Charmoz or the Triolet is insulated, and I was on Rainier during the same time period last year and brought up the Mont Blanc. I was glad I had an insulated boot on and I'd recommend the same to anyone else.

T2 Eco will be comparable maybe a bit softer. The new T1 will be much stiffer.

Have you molded the liners yet? If so your only solution is to re-mold without the foot beds. The Intuition foam will actually mold to the underside of your foot and give you a little bit of support.

It is very easy to swap from ski to ski. It is as simple as loosening two screws and sliding the plate off of the rails. The only word of caution is to only hand tighen the two screws when attaching it to the new ski. If you overtighten it is very easy to strip them.

Very Easy.
Step 1: Loosen two set screws about 5-7 turns.
Step 2: slide orange plate forward and off of ski.
Step 3: slide onto new ski.
Step 4: tighten two set screws (very important - only hand tighten the set screws as they can easily strip out when overtightened)

Sizing is pretty straight across. You'll probably be a 42.5 or a 43 if you are wearing thicker socks.

You'll probably want to try on the 43.5 and 44. Also in my experience the Mont Blanc has the best heel hold of any boot I've tried so you may not need the neoprene booty.

Steve, The Mont Blanc will actually have more ankle support. The Jorasses Pro is basically the lighter more nimble version of the Mont Blanc making it better for more difficult climbing but less supportive. The Mont Blanc is more general purpose and will provide more ankle support.

The Maestrale should be almost as warm as the Inverno. It should be adequate for any adventure in North America. As far as climbing goes the Maestrale is a ski boot first so it won't be a good as the Inverno, but as far as ski boots go this will be one of the best for climbing performance/comfort. Bottom line if your looking for a ski mountianeering boot this boot is perfect.

Short answer yes. Long answer there is a slight fit difference in fit between the two. The Shaka will be a tad wider and a tab higher volume, but with a proper thermofit you will be happy with the Shaka

Hi Lorenzo. You'll want to try on a 44 and/or a 44.5 depending on your sock choice. Also the Mont Blanc does a good job of fitting people with wider feet, but we've also seen plenty of happy customers with average feet in this boot. The boot was designed with a brand new last and a great lacing system to fit a wide range of feet.

It really depends on fit. You'll climb the best in the shoe that fits you better. Other than fit I've noticed the booster provides more power to the big toe making really small holds easier to stand on. The Feroce has a slightly pointier toe and works a little better in tiny pockets. You really won't be disapointed with either shoe, so again it really comes down to fit.

The Spirit 4 is a 110 flex with the ski tongue (90 flex with the walk tongue) Both the Spirit 4 and the Mobe are compatible with all alpine touring bindings including tech style bindings. Neither are compatible with alpine bindings.

The Mobe uses the same lower shell mold as the Spirit 3, BUT the Mobe comes standard with a boot board (4mm thick) that takes up extra volume in the boot. To my knowledge the Spirit 3 never came with this. If you've done a proper shell fit in the 29.5 and know that it is the right size but just have issues with volume than the boot board should fix that for you. The boot board is also sold seperately if you want to update your Spirt 3s

Spencer, if you are a Men's 10.5 you'll likely fit best in a 27.5 or 28 (they use the same shell same shell with slightly different liners)

I can't speak to the Moran but I do know that the kailash does fit a narrower foot quite well.

These come with the standard brakes that work for skis up to 95mm wide

The NTN binding comes with a mounting plate, heel piece, and front binding. This accessory allows you to mount a second pair of skis with just the mounting plate and heel piece so you can move the front binding from ski to ski without having to purchase a complete binding. Basically it is an inexpensive way to use one binding on multiple pairs of skis.

No, this shoe is not waterproof. You should take a look at the Mystic which is the waterproof version of the Zen.

The Mont Blanc is equivilant to the LS Nepals in both warmth and performance. The Phantom Guide is built on the same lower platform which offers plenty of rigidity for front pointing. The boot I'd recommend for you is the the Jorasses Pro which is just as stiff under foot but is lighter and more nimble for difficult mixed moves.

This is pretty much the stiffest tele boot on the market. Not ideal to learn on but with your background and alpine preferences you should be able to grow into it quickly. Only other boot I'd consider thinking about would be the TX Comp which works with the new NTN binding system.

Yes, sold as an accessory the "Powerblock Tour" can be retrofitted to the older Hurricane giving it a walk mode that frees the cuff for it's full range of motion, and still locking tighter than any other ski/walk mechanism I've tried.

In general most fully step in crampons will fit this boot, but it is always good to try as there tends to be a lot of variance in toebail and heel bail dimensions among all the crampons. I personally am using the Petzl Dart Leverlock (not the sidelock) and the Black Diamond Sabertooth Clip

The heat molding process will basically form fit the liner to your foot, so I think you are okay keeping the 24.5. In general an unmolded boot should feel very snug, so that once it is molded if fits perfectly. As long as your in the proper shell you will be fine.

Unfortunately, no this is last year's model and does not include the lugged sole. The 2010/2011 version does include the lugged sole. You can purchase the lugged sole as an accessory though.
