MontBell Super Spiral Hugger #1 Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down
August 24, 2012
I would recommend the Montbell over the Marmot. Marmot makes very high quality bags(I own an older marmot) but the Montbell Spiral is one of the best on the market. I like the flex of the bag, performance and craftsmanship. At 5 foot 6 inches the regular should be adequate. If you have dead space at your feet then you can put your clothes down there to keep them
warm and avoid a cold spot. Best of luck to you.

Western Mountaineering MegaLite Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Down

They should zip together, the only thing to consider is one zipper may be slightly longer. But these are the best bags out there, and made in USA. You wont be disappointed.

Osprey Packs Aether 70 Backpack- 4000-4600cu in
July 11, 2011
The best thing to do if you have not tried it already is go into a store and try both packs, loaded up with the same weight and see how they feel. I have the Aether 85 and its the best pack I've ever had. My next pack will be the 70.
Here are the reasons that the Aether is superior to the Atmos:
1) Comfort due to proper load transfer. The reason for this is because the Aether has a superior hipbelt and frame. Also on the Aether you have two straps on each side of the hipbelt to secure the pack load to the belt(the atmos does not have this), which secures the load to your body, making it more stable, thus giving better load tranfer to the lower parts of your body, thus feeling like a lighter load than the Atmos.
2) You have a removeable lid for a day pack, or shave almost a pound and leave it behind. I personally like a lid for the organization.
3) Aether has better load carrying ability.
4) Aether has the ability to ajust the torso, and or swap harness and belt for a different size. I have a large pack but swapped my brother in law for a medium hip belt, and it fits perfect.
As far as I am concerned the Aether is the best pack on the market right now, but you have to find out what works for you.

Osprey Packs Argon 70 Backpack - 4300-4700cu in
July 31, 2010
Please do spend the extra $$$ it takes to get the osprey. You wont regret it. I recently purchased an Aether after wasting $$$ on cheaper packs. Buy the good one first time out and it will be cheaper in the long run. Plus you will enjoy your time in the backcountry and you can focus on nature, not your aching shoulders/back/neck!! Enjoy:)

The North Face Bighorn Bx Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Heatshield
April 26, 2010
I've got the same bag. It takes a little elbow grease, then once you have about 90 % of the bag in the stuff sack, cinch down on the draw cord. Then stuff the rest of the bag into the sack and whallah! you're finnished.
