Like other reviewers have said, this pad isn't the smallest/lightest on the market. But it is very comfortable and even the long size that I own is still useable for backpacking. Just needs to be strapped to the outside (which is fine because it's quite durable) or you need to have a pack with a good amount of internal space. With the extra thickness in the long you get some decent insulation so I would call this a 3 season sleeping mat. I have been sleeping on mine all summer long (indoors) as my bed because I'm home from college, and I sleep just as well on this as I do my bed at school. Unless you're through-hiking a long trail, this is a great pad at a great price that is durable, versatile, and very comfortable. I highly recommend!
