Giro Seam Helmet

Giro Seam Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 April 16, 2012

Got this helmet at the end of the season this year. My last hemet was also a Giro so when I put it on it just fit like a glove. I was only able to use it once but there is still some snow on the hill....the vents are nicely placed and I really like the size adjustment, gives a nice fit. I have Oakley crowbars and they fit fine. Giro makes a great product and I would certainly by another of their helmets!

Not for me

Smith Vantage Helmet

Smith Vantage Helmet

Rating for this product: 3 March 21, 2012

First, I did not wear this on the snow so I cannot comment on warmth in actual use. I ordered the Giro Seam and Smith Vantage because I could not decide which I liked best. My old helmet was a Giro MX10 that I have had for 6-7 years and it was time to upgrade. I have Oakley Crowbar goggles. I went with the Giro helmet for several reasons. First was fit. Maybe it was because my last helmet was a Giro, I just liked the way it fit better overall. Second, the chin strap on the Smith hangs straight down and felt like it would rub my neck during use. The Giro is angled more forward so it does not hit my neck. Third, with the goggles on, the brim and goggles rubbed together and made an annoying clicking noise. Maybe not an issue with the wind whipping past and Smith goggles would probably fit better. Lastley, parts of the plastic size adjustment are not covered by the liner and rubbed the sides of my head. While I did like the lower profile and the 2 sets of vents, in the end, the Giro just felt better.

Great Coat

Patagonia Lidia Insulated Parka - Women's

Patagonia Lidia Insulated Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 4, 2012

Bought my wife this last month. We live in Japan and the weather is unpredictable and you spend a lot of time in the elements. She has loved it! It has the right amount of "puff" the perfect amount of warmth, and is refined enough to not look like a ski jacket. As usual Patagonia produces some good gear!

Great Tent!

Marmot Limelight 4-Person Tent w/ Footprint and Gear Loft

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2011

I have recently moved to Japan and planned for a short overnighter with the wife and kids. The weather report was 0% chance of rain. Well, after it poored all night(see picture) we were completely dry! There was plenty of room for 4 people, sleeping bags and pads. My kids are age 6 and 9. The vestibules worked great and kept our shoes dry during the monsoon. My only critisism is the cheap guy line rope. I added nite ize tightners and some 3mm PMI reflective glow rope instead of the stuff that comes with the tent. Overall I would recommend this product.
