Good Pack

The North Face Test Recon Backpack - 1830 cu in

I had this pack for years. It stood up to a lot of abuse and was great for everything from school to mountain climbing to skiing. I loved this pack. It was still going strong until someone stole it out of my truck.

The only reason I will not rebuy this pack is because of the mesh pocket on the front. It is a great catch-all but with a lot of use starts to stretch out and sag which I did not like, but that is more of a personal thing then a negative for the pack.

If you want a pack that can easily go from university weekdays to outdoor weekends this pack is it. The price is not great, but is really good and the durability makes up for it. If you are looking for something more technical go elsewhere for lack of gear accessibility and compression options. I have a different pack I use for more technical day climbs and "sleep under the stars" over-nighters.
