Big Agnes Encampment Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Climashield HL

May 3, 2010

I have the BA air core pad, not the insulated air core pad, will this bag be sufficient without the insulated pad, or will I get cold? Thanks.

Osprey Packs Atmos 65 Backpack - 3800-4200cu in

March 12, 2010

What is the deal with the sizing on this pack, a small is 18.5, but a medium designed for 18? I'm a 17" torso, will any size fit me?

Great all purpose hat

Outdoor Research Sonic Beanie

Outdoor Research Sonic Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2010

This is a great hat for cold days, or just days to block the wind. The fit is strange because of the ear covers and the OR symbol is on one side on the middle, but it's easy to figure out after initial confusion. I wear a 7 fitted cap, and a small was the best size, I comparably have a smaller head though.

Great pullover!

ExOfficio Go-To 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

ExOfficio Go-To 1/4 Zip Fleece Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 3, 2010

This is a great fleece pullover. It's very thick and warm for the price. I find it all that's needed in Arizona winters at 40 degrees because of how warm it is.

The sizing is a small amount bigger than most brands. I usually wear a medium for the chest, back and shoulder room, but a small fits perfect, and I'm a 32/33 sleeve length.

The collar is weird, it doesn't fold down very well but it's large and can look a little awkward when kept up. It's not too distracting or ugly, so I didn't mind.

I would recommend this, especially at this price, or what you'll find it on at SAC.

Great shoe!

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

KEEN Voyageur Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 23, 2010

This is a good hiking shoe.

1. I broke mine in by practicing softball and running around the outfield for about an hour.
2. The tread is very aggressive and great on slick and wet rocks. This is one thing I was worried about, I've used vibram soled shoes and slipped many times.
3 I didn't have a problem with the laces, they're not huge, but not short. I have enough to double knot, as I usually do, but they're thin enough to make a nice tight single knot.
4. They fit true to size, which is a good thing I didn't want to return them.

Nice bag for the price

The North Face Wasatch Bx Sleeping Bag: 40-Degree Heatshield

The North Face Wasatch Bx Sleeping Bag: 40-Degree Heatshield

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2010

I'm 5'5", 140lbs, and with a regular size I had tons of room to move around. The area for the feet is tight, but that's been my experience with all mummy bags. It's good for temps in the 40's with baselayers on but below that I sleep in underwear and use a fleece bag liner, and I'm snug warm! For the price and initially intending on using this for car camps on fishing trips in late spring/fall Arizona weather, this is a good all around bag.

Great Pad

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad - Mummy

Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pad - Mummy

Rating for this product: 4 January 29, 2010

I just got this pad in the mail yesterday. In my order was a 40 degree down sleeping bag also, and when I picked up the bad I thought it was my sleeping bag in a compression sack; it's that small! I was astonished with the size, it comes with a 6-7" sack and it fits, even after inflating it.

That brings me to my next point. I was mistaken and thought it was self inflating, but it's not. Not really an issue because it took me about 15-20 exhales to inflate it. 2.5" after inflated, it's massive and looks comfortable. I can't wait to use it, probably this weekend or next. I'll update my review on performance after. I layed on it in my living room, and I didn't come close to bottom out. I'm a side sleeper so that is awesome! I've owned two thermarest, each about 1.5-2", nothing compared to this and much more expensive.

Nice warm jacket, but strange fit.

Columbia Whirlibird Parka - Men's

Columbia Whirlibird Parka - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 28, 2010

I'm 5'5", 140lbs, and I ordered a Med, like I always do (I have a wide back and broad shoulders). The zip out liner fits wonderfully, but the outside Shell is very big. It's a little long and looks as if it's designed for somebody to weight 250lbs. With ski gear on it may look normal, but I use it for fishing in 40 degree winter weather, and it's kind of goofy looking.

Regardless, the purpose is to keep you warm, and it does that well! Under $150 is an amazing price also!
