Marmot Gravity Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Gravity Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 20, 2010

I bought this to replace my old soft shell and this is a great jacket but it isn't as water resistant or windproof as the more expensive alchemy jacket. One thing the alchemy jacket has is a neck cinch that the gravity doesn't have either, this may seem like not much of a big deal but when it gets too cold for a soft shell you could cinch up and stay warm in insanely cold conditions.

The fit is relaxed and comfortable, more of a casual jacket.

The waist adjusters are located inside the lower pockets and when you reach in it feels like you forgot something in your pockets until you get used to it.

Marmot Gravity Softshell Jacket - Men's

Jacket runs true to size, I am 5'9" 195lbs and the large is perfect. Materials are exactly like my Mountain Hardwear Alchemy jacket (Very nice) but I have 2 gripes:
1.) No neck draw-cord to prevent heat loss when you have to wear this in conditions that would normally require a heavier jacket. (I have used my Alchemy jacket in ridiculously cold weather when it was all I had with me and the neck cord was paramount.)
2.) the waist draw-cord ends are inside the pockets which hides the adjusters but is strange at first because when you reach into your pocket it feels like there is something in there.Overall this is a super sweet jacket, I would give it a 4.8 stars if I could!

EDIT: I forgot to add that the Marmot has nice hook & loop adjustments on the cuff and I really like this over my previous softshell.

Oakley Nail Mid Hiking Boot - Men's

Oakley Nail Mid Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2010

Boot runs a bit narrow and true to even a little small so go a half size up. The boots are even better looking in person and construction is very nice. I will report more after some real use.

My wife is right in between the two sizes so is 23 or 27 going to be better? Utah gets some serious powder so I was thinking 27"
