Chest Pocket Comes Undone

Chest Pocket Comes Undone

Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Paclite Jacket - Men's

May 16, 2011

The weld on my chest pocket failed this past week up high on Mount Shasta. The weld along the seam of my arm vent looks like it's about to fail as well.
I am really sad to see this jacket begin to die after a year and a half because it's been full proof in so many ways!

This jacket is awesome and has performed magnificently! However, it finally went south on my recent climb up Mt. Shasta's Casaval Ridge.

Norrøna Nansen Windstopper Soft Shell Jacket - Men's

March 22, 2010

A frigid cold winter night in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge. All I'm wearing underneath this is a lightweight Icebreaker short sleeve t-shirt and I was totally protected and warm.

Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Paclite Jacket - Men's

March 22, 2010

I am 6'1" 155lbs and after really studying the size chart went with an XL (it felt strange to do this but it was the right decision) and when I received it I was extremely pleased with the fit. The cut is perfect and when I have a base and mid layer underneath it fits great! The sleeves are a little long on their own, but when I'm out mountaineering and tighten the velcro around my gloves it doesn't get in the way at all. The added length actually adds to my maneuverability. You don't want something really tight, either ... trapping a bit of warm air works as a great insulator. However a L may still be a good choice. I recently climbed Mt. Hood in a 3 hour sustained windchill of -8F to -15F until I reached the protection of the Steel Cliffs and remained warm the whole time.

Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Paclite Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 15, 2010

I love this jacket. It's lightweight and compact - ideal for storage while starting out a climb - and the vents do an amazing job at keeping you from perspiring once higher up. There are a lot of cinch cords for keeping out snow and adjusting the hood when not wearing a helmet. Thus far I've been very comfortable amidst winter whiteout conditions on Mt. Hood when I combine this jacket with Norronas Nansen windstopper jacket as a mid-layer and an Icebreakers short sleeve base layer; totally waterproof. I am 6'2" and 155lbs with an XL, the sleeves are a little long, but I find it to be a beneficial feature, and everything else about it (length, cut, durability) are perfect.
