I'm about the same size although I may be closer to a 30 waist and I went with the small/reg. which fit just right. So you might want the med/regular. P.S. I tried on some NF gear at the local sports store before ording which was a smart idea for me.

Great Pants

The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's

These pants fit very well without being overly baggy or too tight. I am 5' 8.5" with a 30 waist and the size small goes right to the bottom of my boot without overlapping. I have been out in 15 degree temperatures with only a midweight base layer underneath and remained comfortable (these are the uninsulated version). As far as features, for smaller well groomed northeastern resorts these pants offer plenty of protection and pockets and vent well for the price! Anything else or more expensive would be overkill. The choice of colors is great too.
