I am a HUGE Oakley fan, and own several of their shorts, sunglasses and other apparel and accessories. That's why it was such a tremendous disappointment with this latest generation of Brigade boardshorts. It is like a sweatshop produced chinese knock-off compared to what they had as recently as last season. I guess the economic crisis is catching up with Oakley and quality - the one Ace which separated them from the masses and justified the high price - is getting sacrificed.
The snap closures rust easily with even light ocean water exposure [ I Iive in Hawaii], the zippers and closures are substandard and the stitching is just for show on the gridwork, where earlier models had stay stitching for intense use. The rusting is unforgivable in a boardshort. My older shorts [Brigade 2.8 and before as well as youth brigade] are rock solid though. I hope Oakley isn't getting Columbia-ized. Very very sad.
