Lorpen Merino Light Hiker Crew Sock - 2-Pack

Lorpen Merino Light Hiker Crew Sock - 2-Pack

I love these socks!! I am self-professed sock-snob, although I'm on a budget. These work out perfect for me and I currently have 6 pair that I wear anywhere from hiking, running, work as business casual, out on the town, and skiing on warmer days. The material is awesome and very versatile in a wide range of environments. They fit snug to your feet but not crazy snug like I've experienced with some smartwool socks. I would say they are more of mid-weight hiking sock. The oldest pair I have of these are still going strong after a year of use. Pick up a pair of these, you won't regret it!!

Great Stoic Product

Stoic Breathe T-Shirt - Long Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Breathe T-Shirt - Long Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 14, 2011

This is really a mid-layer. It has some good thickness to it so just the weight of it keeps you pretty warm, not to mention the material is warmer but still allows you to breath well. I've warn it skiing, hiking on colder days, and running in the rain. Honestly I prefer that it didn't have the thumb-straps just because Stoic already makes their garments with such long sleeves that when they added the thumb-straps it made it that much longer. Its perfect if you really want to use them but if you don't want to (my ski jacket already has some) then the sleeves can be too long and get in the way. Because of this my favorite use for this is when I'm not layering with it (although I can see how my disappointment could be another's delight). Overall very happy with this product and I definitely think its worth the money, especially if you find it on S&C like I did.

My go-to softshell

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Insulated Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 14, 2011

Throughout the 2010/2011 winter this was my favorite jacket to wear out. I wore it mostly around town although I took it on a few fall and spring camping trips. It looks good although it is not as athletic as a lot of other Stoic apparel. Very warm on its own but allows you to breath too so it starts warming up a bit you won't overheat too easily in this. I got the large and I am 6' 175 lbs and it fits well, if not a bit loose. Overall I love it.

Not too shabby

Stoic Breathe 90 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Mens

Stoic Breathe 90 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Mens

Rating for this product: 4 June 14, 2011

So I agree that sizing is a bit off from normal Stoic gear. I am 6' and about 180 lbs and the large fits me fairly loosely. Its maybe not as an athletic fit as other Stoic garments. It does dry extremely quick and is great for hiking or running or frolicing in the woods but it is a delicate fabric and I'd advise against putting it in the dryer or getting it anywhere near velcro. I pulled the threading loose on two of these shirts these ways. Otherwise a very effective and performance-enhanced shirt.

Great summer shorts

Kavu Lager Short - Men's

Kavu Lager Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 14, 2011

I got two pair of these shorts in different colors off S&C thinking I would return the color I liked the least but ended up keeping both of them. These are a lighter material and are normally a bit shorter then I've worn traditionally. I am 6' and I got the 34's which come to just above the knee. These fit a bit tighter around the leg which keeps it from showing too much thigh or from people looking up your shorts when you're climbing. If you want a simple pair of shorts for the summer these are a great option.

I feel invincible!!

Mammut Granite GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Mammut Granite GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 14, 2011

I got these bad boys a month ago and have used them on a few hikes so far. I got size 10.5 and usually wear size 10 street shoes and the half size up was perfect since your feet naturally swell during hikes. I've had quite a few hiking shoes and these feel the most rigid and stiff out of all of them, although keeping you fairly comfortable. I feel like I can walk through anything with these without a second thought concerning my feet. Definitely build solid! Another plus is my feet are about a normal width but I have rounded pinky toes which normally causes quite a bit of rubbing with most other hiking shoes. I did not get that nearly as bad with these. However, I found that this rubbed my heel worse then other shoes. I got blisters the first hike I did with these and I taped up my heels the second hike and didn't have any problems. I also think this problem will get better once getting worn in and possibly getting in-soles. These don't let any water in!! I waded through ankle high water, almost as high as the tops of these water-repelling machines and my socks stayed dry as a bone. Overall these are my favorite hiking boot so far; and i've owned Timberlands, Chaco's, and REI Brand.
