I picked this up. (June 2012) on closeout @ 65% off , and at that price this jacket is amazing. I agree with some othe posts that the stoic quality is not quite up to the quality of Mtn H. Panta G, OR.and some others.....but they are very close and a better value.
This is very comparable to a M.H. compressor, although not primaloft, and does not have the non quilted design. (the quilting is easily snagged on this jacket/ sweater) or nearly as nice stitching. Just out of the bag, new, i found 6 or 7 loose threads and 2 poorly stiched seams .....but this is easy to fix. I did not find any issues with the hood as some reviews have stated? I wonder if this is a newer version? Any way the hood is large, but it has nice elastic cord adjustments around the face and at the back of the hood to make the fit very good, with or without a helmet. No issue for me. Also the cuffs have been mentioned as snug, but again fits nice on me. In fact the overal fit is awsome! I got a medium and am 5.10 175. It may be a touch big compared to other mediums i have, but i like the non binding feel and little longer arms. I would probably not layer more than a T and a warm longshirt under it, then mayby a shell over and that is exactly what i wanted it for. It can double as well as a a warm sweater/ hoody and take backpacking for sitting around at night, or wearing to bed if you brought to light a sleeping bag. (This better than down for this as it wont compress and loose its insulating value.) It has a nice fleeced lined chin guard, and fleece lined pockets. All zips worked smoothly. This is not a belay style over puffy or a heavy duty outer layer, you need to treat it gently as a insulator piece, and i think its designed very well for its purpose.
Over all very nice ! and I like the bright colors!
