De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Tight - Women's

De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Tight - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 10, 2011

3.5 hours in 35F, intermittently misting, overcast and awful weather and I'm feeling great wearing this jacket and matching bib tights while everyone else is bundled up in bulky layers looking miserable. To be fair, I had leg and arm warmers underneath. The fabric is awesome. Looks sexy and performs as expected - very wind proof and incredibly warm. The waffle backing is amazing at eliminating the icky cold sweat feeling many of the fleece fabrics tend to leave behind. These are the best bib tights I own. First, the length of the inseam is generous, even for the leggy cyclists like me. The stirrup strap stayed in place the entire time and I wasn't even conscious of it. Second, the bib part of the tight is almost a base-layer unto itself, keeping my tummy nice and warm, the mesh panel on the upper part of the back is very effective for reducing over-heating and wicking moisture, and the length of the shoulder straps should comfortably accomodate cyclists with longer torsos. What impressed me the most is the feeling of invisibility these bibgs give. I've worn them with and without warmers underneath and it is absolutely amazing how much they disappear on my body. I am accustomed to a slight bunching of the fabric at the back of the knee and that didn't happen. I expected the angled seam over the knee area to potentially bother me and it didn't at all. I'm quite fond of the chamois as well. Just fantastic all around. No complaints, not even the price, which I normally fuss about alot.

This jacket is snug, especially in the arms. I have super skinny girl cyclist arms and it fits very well with warmers underneath, but there is definitely no extra room. Fits a little odd when not on the bike, but who cares. Fit on the bike is amazing. Felt like I was wearing nothing. Kept expecting to be cold everytime I turned a corner into the wind, yet I stayed warm and cozy while everyone else grunted.

Impressive!

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Long Sleeve Women's Jersey

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Long Sleeve Women's Jersey

Rating for this product: 5 January 3, 2011

Beautiful cut and fit, as to be expected by Gio. Sleeves are fitted, but with plenty of room for arm warmers underneath without any bunching or pulling. Fabric is a soft black, not a bright black, which I think looks very elegant and the interior is not the usual fleecey-soft stuff. I'm most impressed that it actually delivers on the claim to wick moisture and retain heat. Wore it today - 50F, overcast, humid, yucky - with the Gio bib tights and Castelli arm warmers under the sleeves. I was warm on the descents and dry on the climbs. Don't think a jersey could perform better than this. Beautiful. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Campagnolo Sportswear L103 Racing Full-Zip Cycling Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Women's'

Campagnolo Sportswear L103 Racing Full-Zip Cycling Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Women's'

Rating for this product: 4 December 31, 2010

Snug race fit jersey, looks quite sharp on, nice venting on the sides, very comfortable fabric - hard to beat for $54. The red is a beautiful deep lipstick red, love it.

My only gripe is that the pockets are shallow. There's two "big" ones and two zippered small ones. The big ones fit one clif bar and one gel each, but it's a tight fit. Another extra inch of pocket depth would be handy. The downside of XS jerseys are XS pockets.

Awesome gloves

Castelli Super Nano Gloves

Castelli Super Nano Gloves

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2010

I like these gloves for the exact reasons the previous poster didn't like them. For an ordinary cool day (45-65F), these gloves will do the trick without sweating up your palms and imobilizing your fingers. They do run small, imo, but as a woman with narrow-ish palms and long fingers, this glove is a perfect fit! The fabric is simply superior to every other winter glove I've tried on. It's very light and flexible, yet still soft and warm. I didn't realize how terrible my other gloves were until I bought these. I just assumed that stiff, bulky ill-fitting fingered gloves were a fact of winter cycling life. Apparently, that is not the case. Last year's winter gloves just got the boot. These are awesome. Fwiw, my palm across the knuckles is 7" and the small fits perfectly.

Perfect for 55-65F

Castelli Trasparente Long Sleeve Women's Jersey

Castelli Trasparente Long Sleeve Women's Jersey

Rating for this product: 5 November 11, 2010

This is the most thoughtful long-sleeve jersey I own. It's more like a very lightweight jacket. It's like someone at Castelli read my mind. The windstopper fabric extends through the entire front of the jersey, including the sleeves, keeping my arms protected from icey cold descents and fast flats where a winstopper vest and long-sleeve fleecey jersey has failed, resulting in shivering icicle arms, yet it's strangely still too warm for a full windstopper jacket. The neck is very high in front and back for added cold and wind protection. And if you get too warm, just unzip it. Looking forward to many more rides in Texas "winter" weather.

Two days later: as a side note, the "rosso corso" label came off in the wash, no biggie, the jersey is unharmed. Wore it again today, still loving it!

Awesome shorts

Giordana Forma Red-Carbon Short - Women's

Giordana Forma Red-Carbon Short - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2010

I l-o-v-e these shorts!! The fabric is so soft and breathable. The chamois is small, but very effective. I don't even notice the gripper band when I'm riding. It's like a magic trick. No silicon or rubber gripper, just a 1" band of slightly snugger fabric that holds the leg of the short in place without digging into my thigh. So nice! The white fabric is a nice, solid opaque white. These are my "go to" shorts for long rides in the hot summer sun.
