Sized a bit small, otherwise great

Black Diamond Tracer Helmet

Black Diamond Tracer Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 August 11, 2012

Just what I wanted in a helmet, meaning enough of a hemisphere-shaped accessory to convince my climbing buddies to let me on the rope.

My size Large weighs 10.6 oz, if anyone cares.

According to the sizing chart, the Large should fit 23in+. I have a 23inch dome, and am glad a got the large. It barely fits (at it's widest) over my skull and a light beanie. I cannot crank it all the way down over my bare head. So, I'm guessing if you are on the edge of a size, you should size up!

Stoic Arx XL 2 Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

August 19, 2011

This has me vexed- Why is a 84.5 inch tent referred to as a shelter for tall people? I'm 6'5, and have slept in many tents, and I can tell you that anything under 90 inches is going to brush against my head or toes all night. It is true that higher angled walls help a great deal, but there is no way anyone 6ft and over is going to "stretch out" in this thing. Also, the video with the 6'6" dude in it... his toes are straight up in the air, his head is touching the end, and he is sans-bag. I suppose I am nitpicking at this point, but I feel us giants are being mislead by the desciption. Are the stated dimensions incorrect?

Stoic Luft Hoody Insulated Sweater - Men's

Stoic Luft Hoody Insulated Sweater - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2010

As soon as i read "small chest, monkey arms" I bought it. I'm a gangly ape man (6'4, 175), and it (L) fits perfect. It packs down tiny, has a nice big hood (nice for tall folks, i can put it on without it pulling up the back) and is really very warm. I wore it on new years eve, when we had to take a little boat out to an island to get our drink on. It was the windiest, wettest, coldest choppiest, scariest party pre-funk in history. People were puking, some were crying, gear and beer alike were bouncing out of the boat. Probably the most fun i had all year. I wore this hoody underneath a gortex shell, and was the only warm one when we made it to the island. I love the wrist gator thingies. I dig it.

Osprey Packs Exos 34 Backpack - 1953-2197cu in

Osprey Packs Exos 34 Backpack - 1953-2197cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 12, 2010

Been wanting this pack for a while, finally ended up getting it as a gift. Love the compression system, the suspension is (obviously) awesome, and it has plenty of features for its tiny weight. No longer will i lug my 70L pig on weekends!

One thing worth noting- I'm a tall (6'4) skinny (175) dude, so I (thankfully) received a large frame pack. Fits great, except the non-adjustable waist belt has to be cinched down to the stitching to fit my waist. If i tone up my beer gut, it may not fit. Not that I was in danger of cutting back, but to more attractive mid sections, this may present a pickle.

Looking for a longer-cut hoody (i'm 6'4) and this (L) fit the bill. Nice long arms, looks great. The thumb loops kinda act like wrist gators when not in use, adds to the warmth. Fits well under my Shift jacket for some warmth under a windblock. Plus, it cost next to nothing, which is always a factor for me :)

Great for tall guys

Patagonia Stretch Velocity Zip-Neck Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Stretch Velocity Zip-Neck Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 18, 2009

Got this thing on s&c for next to nothing. One of my favorite purchases ever. I'm wearing it right now. I'm 6'4", 175, with huge gangly spider arms, and the large fits excellent, with great range of motion. Warm, stretchy, and (i'm told) stylish (I have all the fashion sense of a mossy rock). I lounge around the house, hike, climb, and hit up the bar in this thing. Zipper/Chin guard works great. No pockets... One chest pocket would have been nice. Also, great layering, the trim fit and smooth material make it comfortable under a shell. Couldn't be happier with it.

Note on the "pilling" issue- I've only had it about 6 months, but have yet to notice any pilling.

Very snug

Mountain Hardwear Transition Softshell Jacket - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Transition Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 October 5, 2009

As said in other reviews, this jacket is well made and gets the job done. Just wanted to comment on the fit for taller guys. I'm 6'4, 180, and have 35.5" arms. I bought the large, and it fits perfectly. The arms allow enough movement to reach above my head, just not while the thumb loops are in place, which is a little disappointing. With both thumbloops in, I can't put both arms out in front of me without feeling like the jacket is going to rip across my back, and there is NO stretch in the cuffs. Other than that, it is cut well for a tall, lanky dude. As noted in an earlier review, the arms are tight enough that it is difficult to layer a long sleeve underneath, which I don't mind but others might. Also, the non-adjustable hood, when fully zipped, is super snug, but fits under a climbing helmet. Just a little tight on the chin. The pocket made me laugh... whose idea was that? Pretty useless, especially climbing. A chest pocket would have been nice. I picked this up on S&C for a killer price, so I'll keep it and just alter the thumbloops and maybe the hood. Bottom line- If you have broad shoulders, long arms, or a bigger head, i would look elsewear.
