Stoic Arx XL 3 Tent: 3-Person 3-Season

July 6, 2011

Still have the plastic clips that hold the fly down... I don't think I like that. Any chance of getting metal hooks or something in the next version?
So far I'm very satisfied with all the Stoic I have but those clips just scream failure to me

Stoic Welder Insulated Softshell Jacket - Men's

July 25, 2010

Can anyone compare this to the Stoic Welder Hi Softshell?
looking for which is warmer, ability to layer underneath, waterproof and windproof, functionality of the hood, and ability to keep out snow since there is no powder skirt on either?

thanks!

Ground Ajanta Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 June 8, 2010

overall great tent!

first the cons since there arent many
1) all mesh tent makes the tent a little breezy in high winds and also i am somewhat reluctant to use in sub 0 temps (Celsius), but if the fly is tied down properly like it should be this issue is easily taken care of, recommend upgrading to steel spikes instead of pegs if you can afford the weight.

pros

1)light-ish
2)easiest tent ive ever set up, similar to the design of the hubba hubba 1 main pole and two very small expandable poles, mine came with featherlights but i think they come with aluminum here
3)lots of room even for tall folk, im 6'2" and have more than enough room
4)waterproof and drys quickly, mine actually dried wrapped up in the trunk of my car on the way home from tofino after a nice rainy night
5) vertical walls keep everything warm and dry, large vestibules on either side , two doors

very happy with this tent, probably the best at what its made for, like i said i would compare it to the msr hubba hubba , a little more weight but a lot more room and less than half the price

two thumbs up!!

fantastic boots

Vasque Breeze GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Vasque Breeze GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 26, 2009

used these all summer in southern B.C. Rockies and eventually on five day hike of the west coast trail.... i had read about the plastic hooks breaking but i assure you if one "broke walking in the brush" that was an isolated error. Ive raced up and down some pretty harry scree slopes banging them around hard and nothing has broken yet. As for them not being waterproof nothing can be further from the truth. Someone said Gore-tex doesn't cut it... that's not true, if your goretex isnt waterproof its because you probably dried the boots by a fire that was to hot and dried out the goretex liner or punctured it with a sharp stick or something. that being said i did add some mink oil and nik wax to them before going on the west coast trail... even when walking IN the ocean my feet were always 100% drytake care of these boots and they will take care of youhighly HIGHLY recommended
