Whistler on Elan Fatties

Elan M 777 Alpine Ski

So I bought these skis prior to a trip to Whistler which as you know is a bi-bi-biiggg mountain with some very hard terrain and often mixed conditions.
These skis definitely kicked ass. I'm (ahem) husky (240lb)-- which means I like a slightly softer ski with a little more give or I'm just not getting around that first turn on the drop in. But a soft short carved ski means a slow ski. And I always hated playing pokey at the bottom when all my fast twitch friends point and shoot.
So these skis IMHO struck a great balance between a good carve, some kick, and enough girth to keep me above the pow. I liked them because in addition to getting all that you want in a shaped ski they are are also much faster than most I've skied on -- which again is a real bonus once you come out of the chute into that huge bowl and three minutes to lift close.
Although we didn't hike much on this trip, these skis are also very light, which is always a plus for the shlep or slog.
The ski is all good. No negatives.

Hey Flintstone!!

This review is simple. If you've got big wide Fred Flintstone feet, buy this boot and no other.
I've spent my entire live jamming my flippers into narrow glass slipper boots. I've done custom insoles, blown out boots, trimmed liners, silk socks, slept with my feet elevated.
I'm actually comfortable in ski boots for the first time in my life.

Took it to Mexico. It's sturdy, well designed, etc. But the real secret sauce on this bag is in the airlines new (total BS) 50lb bag limit. My bag weighed in at a hefty 85lb, the lady said "oh I'm sorry we'll have to charge you extra", and I said "wait a second" unzip, bang! Now I have two bags under the weight limit. Three people standing in line asked me where I got that bag.

No one is certified to work on them. Before you buy this binding make sure you know who is going to do the mounting and confirm that they are certified. No one in San Francisco is. I had to drive all the way to San Jose REI to find apparently the one guy from here to Salt Lake would could mount these. It was a huge pain. Otherwise they're fine.

Holds a ton but can compress down if you've got less—that means less noise and better gas mileage.

We had to trim the straps (which come very long) because they were flapping.

We use it for family trips (2 adults, 2 children), the children can pack it like a suitcase on the bed and we load it on the car, then drag the whole bag to the cabin. This works a little better than I think a hard case would, where we'd be packing and unpacking more often.

The one issue that we have is that it makes noise on our Volvo Cross Country XP when there's nothing on it and we're driving above ~60mph.

Very happy with this shirt. Kept me warm and dry. Took it skiing and then took it running. Let me ditch a whole extra layer it was so great under my shell.

Took it running, didn't stick when I got all sweaty. Excellent shirt.
