Rab Latok Alpine Jacket - Men's

Rab Latok Alpine Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 21, 2012

I've owned a couple of Rab eVent jackets over the past few years, including a Latok Alpine, and they've been brilliant. These jackets are breathable, light, easy to care for, and pack down small. The hood fits great, moves with your head, and comes with a wire reinforced brim. The sleeves are pretty long, and the cut of the jacket won't allow it to ride up when you lift your arms.

If you take care of eVent like you should, it'll last ages and stay very breathable. The only way this jacket could be improved is to add some small underarm vents. I think all hard shell jackets should have pit zips, but that may just be me, since I'm on a mountain bike so much. Anyway, it's good kit. If you need a breathable waterproof, you really can't go wrong with a Latok Alpine.

Scarpa Mojito Shoe - Men's

These shoes appear to have a rather narrow forefoot. Is that the case? What's the overall fit like?

Helly Hansen Mission Jacket - Men's

November 27, 2010

If you tend to run cold, then this may not be insulated enough for you with just a thermal top during periods of inactivity at -10 C. It's 100 grams of Thinsulate in the body and 60 in the arms. If you're warm all the time, like I am, then this should be fine. I can wear mine walking to work in sub 0 C weather, and I'm not cold.

Marmot DriClime Catalyst Jacket - Men's

February 27, 2010

I'm 5'7" and have a 44 chest. I've read this jacket runs small. Would I be alright with a L or should I go for XL? All the clothing I wear is either M or L, and I only plan on wearing this jacket over a tech t-shirt or thermal top. Thanks.

Nikwax TX Direct Wash In

February 8, 2010

I have a North Face HyVent coat with Nylon lining and Polyester insulation. It's not fleece on the inside, but it is a permanent lining inside a shell. It looks to be similar in materials and construction to TNF's Storm Rider coat. Mine is 4 years old, and I'm not sure what model mine is. Can I use the TX Direct wash-in (doubt it) for this coat, or am I limited to just the spray-on variety (likely)? Thanks.

These are amazing, and I just bought my second pair to go inside mitts for mountaineering. My first pair got me through winters of field work in Ohio (often near- or below-zero F temps).

These are very warm, and the textured palm and fingers gives them great dexterity.
