No you do not need two of the same beacons for it to work. Beacon technology is now universal so any brand can be used with any other no matter if the frequency is analog or digital. As far as just using one, it doesn't work at all. The only way using one solo would be if you are in out of bounds resort area and ski patrol can get to you, or if other people in the area randomly have beacons they could pick up your signal. However being out solo with a beacon and no one is around, then it is rendered useless.

DAKINE Split Roller Small Gear Bag - 4000cu in.

They split right down the middle so one will have wheels the other will not. No the seperate one does not have backpack straps. Also this bag is pretty big so even when the bag is split in two it is not really made for carry on. The split feature is made more to split the bag in two so you do not get hit with weight fees.

Snowboarding stuff in general is cut to run a little larger. This one will have a longer length and longer arms. But I recommend keeping with your current size because the longer length and sleeves is great for keeping snow out.
