the most versatile layering piece for any adventure, this is a little bit lighter and has a softer hand than the patagonia R! hoody (a piece I coveted for years) has more stretch and lower profile thumb loops. Such a crucial item!

Cold hands are often the bottom line for a lot of adventures... It really sucks to bail in fear of frost bite.

After getting turned back 100M short of the summit of Meru in the Garhwal Himalaya (after 20 days on the wall) I will always take these. One of my partners Jimmy Chin had them and I was so jealous...!

Never again without the Guide Glove, its such inexpensive insurance for an enjoyable successful adventure.

Function: Last year I took this tent to misty/rainy eastern Europe and then to the high altitute/arid Tibetan plateau...performed in both environments perfectly..i'd take this tent for just about anything besides a full on winter himalayan expedition

Form: The roomy overhead space has helped me with my lingering claustrophobia induced by hanging portaledge bivies!

really dig the style of woven design of this, a unique piece in the line.

things I like about this jacket that are not in the desciption above:

1. The nylon lining on the inside of the jacket has a silky feel to it...makes the jacket feel warm, light and help freedom of movement

2. The high collar is lined with super soft micro fleece and is high enough to tuck under to avoid a burly gust of wind or pounding ice and snow.

3. The elastic cuffs are a thin stretchy neoprene like gasket that hold heat in without restricting blood flow

4. Two way zipper is great for hanging belays where your harness rides up into the jacket.

This is one most useful, comfortable, durable jackets TNF makes! I use a XL as a big belay over jacket to put on over my other down for the coldest adventures and have a size M for town and at the crag.

WHAT IS BEST ABOUT Smith's WITNESS shades?

a. great shape and fit. I take these on expeditions as travel shades and end up wearing them up on the mountain because I love the fit and coverage.

b. cool style but not super over the top & in your face. The tortoise frames are more subtle than they look in the photo.... they actually look more like solid brown until you take them off and light shines through them reveals all the sweet details.

c. sick mix of fashion and function. Super high quality optics, both lenses are rad but the brown are my favorite for variable light conditions.
