I had an old pair of Salomon's with traditional lace ups that had seen better days. My feet ached after only a half day and was looking for some boots that were most importantly â comfortable, but still responsive.
Although there were no local shops that carried these so I could try on a pair, I decided to purchase these Northwave boots after reading the online reviews. I bought these late in the season, so only had the opportunity to use them once, but I was extremely pleased.
The lace system is great in getting a good fit for both your arch and ankle independently. Also, the inner shell has a separate lacing system as well. I tightened each section, clamped it down and never had to adjust until I removed my boots at the end of the day. The response on the hills felt excellent and had no problems whatsoever.
The lacing system takes a little bit of getting use to, but is well worth it. The only problem Iâve noticed is that once you tighten the laces to your comfort level, there is a lot of excess lace that you have to figure out where to put. Each boot does have side pockets to tuck in the handles, so I ended up just shoving the excess lace into the pockets.
Fit true to size and got them for $153.26. Worth every penny.
