Great suspension, hip belt pockets, a sleeve behind each side pocket allowing you to secure long items easily into the water bottle pockets, front access panel, and tons of ways to compress your load make this my favorite pack I've owned as well as the most budget friendly.

Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Microfilter

April 1, 2009

i found the easiest way to use the hiker pro was to sit on a rock and use 2 containers in between my legs, one for dirty one for clean, the dirty water i let sit for a few minutes to let any sediment settle, then i put a coffee filter over the prefilter secured with a rubber band to prevent any tiny particles from being sucked in. the water started out dirty and rust colored, and came out clear and clean, and since i used a coffee filter both the main filter and the prefilter look brand new. just remember to run a partial bleach solution through the entire system after each trip and let dry completely before storing. excellent product, 10/10.

Lafuma X650 Pro Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic DO NOT USE

Lafuma X650 Pro Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 May 17, 2009

After getting sunburned all over this bag was really nice to spend the night in. The lining is very soft and the bag is roomy as well. I enjoyed being able to move the bag with my whole body getting in different sleeping positions without it getting bunched up anywhere. The only drawback I found was the compression system on the included bag is a little awkward but at the size it is that's no real issue. After my first night in this I can't wait for the next. My expectations for weight, size, and price have all been met with this bag.

Holds boiling water very well

Great bottle, I've used it to hold boiling water while melting snow and it didn't even get soft. These work well for medical kits too, just throw everything in and strap it to your pack.

Book: Hiker's Guide to the High Sierra - Yosemite

Rating for this product: 2 April 30, 2009

I am a little disappointed in this guide as it only covers a small section of the park and is black and white. For the price it could be a whole lot better. If you're looking for a guide to the whole park look elsewhere..

Kelty Red Cloud Backpack - 5000-6650cu in

April 24, 2009

On the 2009 model you can slide a rifle/fishing pole behind the side pockets into the mesh water bottle pockets. When not in use a velcro section closes off that access so you can have extra pockets behind the side pockets perfect for maps or other flat items.

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 April 2, 2009

I am 100% satisfied with this product. I have the regular size and its everything I needed. Kept me warm when it got down to 15F and completely wet/snowy ground. I keep it stored under my couch inflated and so far after several trips it almost seems as if it self-inflates better each time. I recommend this pad to anyone who is on a budget but wants top quality.

I use this to pack my toiletries as well as my kitchen accessories and I absolutely love how organized everything stays. I wish I could buy a second case only to use to organize other things, its a very useful design. It's on sale and a heck of a deal!

Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Microfilter

April 1, 2009

All I do is throw a small hand warmer into the storage bag before the temperatures drop at night and so far I always wake up with an unfrozen filter. This has worked down to 10F and I'm sure a second warmer would work if it got even colder.
